Answers will be due at the end of the class period on February 16 th . Please try to have a legible copy so that it can be marked. The copy needs to be scanned and uploaded in PDF format to the appropriate folder on Dropbox in Moodle. Late submission will incur 10% penalty per day up to a maximum of 50% of the total mark. Problem #1 (30 points) The “Homewood Masonry optimization problem” has been solved in class (lecture 6) using the Simplex Tableau by taking the x 1 as the initial entry variable. Redo the same problem by considering the x 2 as the entry variable instead of x 1 . You are asked to: 1. solve the problem using Simplex Tableau showing all the iterations steps (20 points) 2. using the graphical Method, locate each of the possible optima (5 points) 3. compare both selected choice (x 1 then x 2 as entry variables) and draw conclusion. (5 points) Problem #2 (30 points) A manufacturer produces three types of plastic fixtures. The time required for molding, trimming, and packaging is given in the below Table. (Times are given in hours per dozen fixtures.) How many dozen of each type of fixture should be produced to obtain a maximum profit?
