Question: In what ways might we accept, explain, or rationalize the apparent contradictions (differences) between archaeological accounts of the past and Indigenous accounts of their own history? Offer at least 2 possibilities . An example might be helpful too, although I am asking you to be brief. There are a number of ways that we accept, explain, and rationalize the contradictions between archeological accounts and indigenous accounts. One of the most common ways of rationalizing the differences is through the use of Indigenous Knowledge, this is where information is passed down by word of mouth threw generations. Archeologists base much of their knowledge off of writings, imagery, and artifacts from the past. Archeologists may find artifacts and interpret them a specific way due to the geography and written history. Although working alongside indigenous communities allows for them to put more context behind an artifact, as well as more in-depth knowledge of how a specific group operated. Another example would be experience, experience being a indigenous person of Canada. Unless the archeologists have put time into learning or is indigenous themselves they are lacking their own experience to work off of.
