Assignment: Using EDP-3
Completed by: Kortney Schaum
Date: 1/18/23
Effectiveness (1-5): How well it notifies when to water the plants and if the plants will survive with these devices.
Longevity (days): How long these devices will last and how long the plants survive with them.
Cost (dollars): A cost under 200$, but a price that gives a device that meets all criteria.
Based on my criteria effectiveness very strongly preferred over cost because there are many devices out there, but it is important to find one that is most effective. Effectiveness is strongly preferred over longevity and longevity is strongly preferred over cost. This is due to the fact that it is important how long these devices last along with how
long the plants last. I would rather spend money for expensive products that are going to last.

Both devices are clearly under my budget, but Rainpoint Wifi is a huge amount under budget. However, the criteria that is in the RainPoint wifi
did not provide everything that I was looking for. The cost of the Smart
Plant Water Meter is around 195 which is under my 200$, but I rated it a 3 because I thought it was still high. However, the RainPoint Wifi was $55 I thought it was still cheap for what it is supposed to offer. I rated Criteria

it also a 1 for effectiveness because It looks like this device is more for a garden rather than my apartment complex and the app is not effective. I rated the Smart Plant Water Meter a 5 in effectiveness because based on the reviews and the look of the app it notifies you about everything. Lastly longevity it looks like the plants last a lot longer with Smart Plant Water Meter which is why I rated it a 4 based on the reviews and videos about the product. With the RainPoint there was not much information about how long the plants last which is why I
rated it a 2.
Based on the information the Smart Plant Water Meter has a much higher total than the Rainpoint Wifi. This is based on the three criteria including the effectiveness, longevity, and cost. The effectiveness was huge and in the Smart Plant Water Meter the rating was the highest it could be because the reviews showed how effective the product really is.

Problem 1:
Four different machines were under consideration for materials flow improvement on a drug
bottling line. An engineer performed the economic analysis to select the best machine, but
some of his calculations were removed from the report by a disgruntled employee. All
machines are assumed to have a 10-year life.
Select the best machine at MARR = 18% per year, provided one must be chosen.
