Kids shouldn't have homework. Kids have stuff to do like sports, spending time with family and working. Instead of doing 6 or so hours of homework every night. “homework came in behind not only socializing but also exercise or sports as well as working for pay.” (Gazette, par. 24) I agree because some students have to rush to get their homework done at lunch or before school because they either have sports or have to go to work everyday. Also so much school work revolves around computers and the internet. “With more school materials heading online, kids across the country find they can no longer do their homework at home. That leaves libraries as much-needed places to do homework.”(Herald para. 3) I completely agree with that because
Students feel more stressed and turned off to learning, which is, a lifelong pursuit when it comes to homework. Too much homework turns kids off to learning and makes them less rather than more invested in school and learning. Are children having too much homework? There has been a big disagreement about if students should have homework or students should not have homework. Some people say they should not have homework and some say they should have homework. Children should not have homework, because it wastes all of the time out of school.
Have you ever struggled on homework before? I have and sometimes it is because that inappropriate homework may produce little or no benefit, it may even increase student achievement, and stress. Some people think that homework is just to review what you did in school, but it isn’t always. Students should not have homework because homework can cause stress, students are involved in many after school activities, and most importantly, students need more free-time.
PCMS students should not get homework. All school kids do not have a parent at their house to help them finish the assignment because the parent has to take care of the baby. Sixty five percent through seventy five percent of many school students qualify for free lunch which means kids do not have a lot of parents to help with homework. Kids do not finish homework at home. Because kids have no time after they get off the bus. What if they have to go food shopping. Then they can't finish the work. While some would say to not get your homework done. I say that kids do not finish their homework.
A longitudinal analysis of NAEP data by the Brookings Institution’s Tom Loveless in 2014 found that more 9-year-olds were regularly doing homework than their parents' generation: In 1984, 35% of students reported no homework the previous night. By 2012, that had shrunk to 22%. But the share of 9-year-olds reporting an hour or more of homework was also down by two percentage points in that same period, from 19% to 17%. The percentage reporting less than an hour of homework had risen from 41% to 57%. Loveless also found that 27% of 17-year-olds reported having no homework. And the share of 17-year-olds who spent more than two hours a night on homework remained unchanged at 13%. This shows that a lot of students are having homework. Kirkwood High School was trying an experiment for the sake of student and teacher mental health. Some schools across the country have already tried discarding homework, and many reports success and positive feedback from students and
With technology growing at a rapid rate, it has nearly consumed everyone’s lives, especially students. The National School Boards Association says, “Almost 60% of students who use social networking talk about education topics online and more than 50% talk specifically about schoolwork” (“Creating & Connecting” 1). There are more online colleges than ever before. Businesses are communicating via live computer conference calls on opposite ends of the earth. In addition, schools are introducing computer enriched assignments as early as elementary. According to research done by the National School Boards Association, “Nearly all school districts (96%) say that at least some of their teachers assign homework that requires internet use” (“Creating
My opinion is that kids should not have homework. I think that homework is a bad idea because you should be able to go home and relax. I think that kids should have more work time and no homework. I think that kids can get confused and frustrated when doing homework. One of the rules I think is needed is no homework on weekends. Anther rule I think needs to be included is that only thirty minutes doing homework. I think one of the rules should be you only get homework if you don't get your work done in school. I think anther rule is no homework in elementary school. One more rule that I think is needed is you can choose to take it home or do it the next day. I think no homework because you go to school all day and work. I think there should
I believe Students should be given homework even with the burdens they have. I say this because when most times people have time to do their homework they do not want to do it because they would rather
You enter home, you see your ball lying there on the floor. You are tempted to pick it up and go practice some free throws, but then you look over to your school bag also laying there untouched and unopened and you remember, homework! You pick up your bag and anxiously go into your room. You think to yourself that maybe if you finish early you'd still have time to do the things you enjoy. 5 hours later, you're tired and still not done. Homework has been a debate topic that many people have important opinions on. Although some may have differing opinions on this topic, homework should cease to be given because of the lack of resources and support students have at home, loss of interest in certain subjects that lead to lower grades, and the amount leads to
Do kids really need homework? Most students would agree that homework is over-rated, time consuming and sometimes exhausting. With busy schedules to balance, homework can be very stressful. I think homework should not be mandatory.
What is white, has printed words on it, costs you a grade and if you don’t do it, you get an F or detention or silent lunch or... no recess? The answer is homework. The main reason some kids don’t finish homework is because some teachers give way too much. Yes, if the child was absent they should do the missing assignment they missed, but that doesn’t mean you have to give it to them to finish it in one night! There is always another time. Children need a time to rest. They also need time to stop, set work aside and spend time with family. Plus, everyone needs a time to do what they want every once in awhile. Therefore, teachers should give less homework.
Homework should not be in schools for many reasons, mostly because we do six hours of school and then we have to do more work after school. What is the point of homework if you don’t learn anything from it? Doing homework is a great thing to do if you have no friends and want to stay home allday everyday, which by the way no one wants to do.
I think we should have a limit on homework. It’s not fair because a lot of the time kids have RTI or there’s a school assembly or they do stupid lessons in advisory so we don’t have enough time to do our homework. Plus since the teachers don’t consult each other on homework we get a lot. This can lead to have to do your homework at home. Which isn’t fair because when we get home that’s our time we already spent 7 hours at school and we need time for ourselves. We also need time for our family members.
“Why Students Should Not Have Homework?!” What is every high schoolers role in the school system? Do high schoolers have a say in what can be accomplished in the setting of Athens high school? If students were given the option to put in recommendations to staff, the school would fluctuate better as a whole, and benefit all individuals inside. The first proposal I would present to Athens would be about homework taking up all our free time as students.
Today, homework for kids is getting out of control. Homework has led up to kids not being able to get the proper sleep. There are multiple opinions on the homework topic. People who believe we do not have too much homework, think it is a good way for parents to see what their child is doing in school. However, I believe kids should not have homework. I think this because we have other things to do besides sit in front of a computer or a book for two hours or more, overwhelmed with how much we get, and it is causing health issues. I think it is time that the school’s start listening to the kids on their opinion about homework because the staff doesn’t know how stressed and overwhelmed kids get when it becomes that time at night to do homework.
Kids should not get as much homework as they do now. When kids are given too much homework, they tend to get stressed, not enough family time and the kids health becomes bad. Now kids are staying up till midnight trying to figure out a problem.
