Outcome 1: 1.Types of abuse include: •Physical abuse involving contact intended to cause injury, feelings of intimidation or bodily harm. •Sexual abuse is any sort of non-consensual sexual contact. •Emotional/psychological abuse is characterised by a person subjecting or exposing another to behaviour that can result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression or post-traumatic stress disorder. •Financial abuse is the illegal use of a person's money, property, pension book or other valuables. •Institutional abuse is the mistreatment of people brought about by poor or inadequate care or support, or systematic poor practice that affects the whole care setting. •Self neglect is a behavioural condition in which an individual neglects to attend to their basic needs such as personal hygiene, feeding, attending to any medical conditions they may have. •Neglect by others occurs when a caregiver does not provide the essential daily living needs of an adult dependent upon them, for things such as food, clothing, shelter, washing, medication and health care. 2.The signs associated with physical abuse may include broken bones, pressure marks, bruises, burns and abrasions. Psychological or emotional abuse - is any action which has an effect on an individual's mental well-being, causes suffering and effects their quality of life and ability to function to their full potential.
Physical abuse is when someone hits you or hurts your body. Sexual abuse is when someone touches your body in a way you do not like, sexual abuse can also be when someone wants you to touch them or to wanting you to have sex with them when you don’t want to. Emotional abuse is when someone keeps saying hurtful things that upset you. Financial abuse is when someone takes your money or belongings from you without your permission, someone who is committing financial abuse may also force you to give them things or spend money that you don’t want to spend. Neglect by others is where the people that are supposed to support and look after you
Neglect is the failure to meet a child’s basic physical and or psychological needs, which is likely to affect the child’s health or development. Neglect is when a parent or carer fails to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter (including exclusion from home or abandonment), medical care, or protection from physical and emotional harm or danger. Additionally failure to ensure access to education or to look after a child because the carer is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is considered as Neglect.
Physical Abuse is when someone physically causes you harm, this can include things such as; hitting, kicking, pulling hair, pinching, scratching, shaking or (in a care related situation), giving someone too much or not enough medicine. An example of physical abuse in care setting is if you are to punch or kick someone intentionally to cause harm to them. Another example would be a personal carer not giving an elderly person the correct amount of medicine at the right times to cause harm.
Neglect; characterized as providing inadequate care of a child, such as providing unsuitable supervision, and other basic needs, such as sufficient health care. Other requirements in caring for a child include, but are not limited to providing proper clothing regarding weather conditions, current immunizations and other medical provisions, food and shelter, and a number

Neglect by others occurs when either a support worker or a family or friend carer fails to meet someone’s support needs as they do not realise its importance, or because they cannot be bothered, or choose not to provide it.
Neglect by others means when someone knowing is ignoring and/or with holding physical or medical care.
Emotional / psychological abuse is doing or saying things that demean and make someone feel less of themselves. This includes bulling, blaming, threatening and damaging other’s feelings of self-esteem.
This can be the product of both ineffective and/or punitive management styles, creating an environment within which abuse can take place, intentional or otherwise. It could include situations where there are significant numbers of low level, or other, concerns affecting more than one adult and concerns that the systems, processes and / or management of these may be failing to safeguard a number of adults leaving them at risk of harm or significant harm. Physical abuse can include: hitting, slapping, pushing, pinching, force feeding, kicking, burning, scalding, misuse of medication or restraint, catheterisation for the convenience of staff, inappropriate sanctions, a carer causing illness or injury to someone in order to gain attention for themselves ( this might be associated with a condition called fabricated and induced illness ).

Physical abuse is a deliberate use of physical force that results in bodily injury pain or impairments. Sgns of physical abuse can be burns and scalds, marks on the skin consistent with being slapped, scratched, bitten or pinched.Sexual abuse is direct or indirect involvementin sexual activity without valid consent. Signs of sexual abuse could be sexual transmitted disease,unexplained crying and distress or anxiety and fear of physical touch. Emotional/psycholoigical abuse is any action by another that damages an individuals mental wellbeing, signs of this is attention seeking behaviour,depression,low self-esteem and lack of self confidence.
