Our thoughts also are too numerous to count sometimes. Have you ever had an opportunity or a time when you may have been sitting idle and your mind just started racing from one thing to the next? Nothing was conclusive. You just kept going from one thing to the next. You were being bombarded with all of these different thoughts and you could not concentrate on anything. Understand this; the only thing that the enemy is trying to do to you and I is to bring you to a place of confusion. He wants you to be confused. He wants you to be so confused that you can’t discern whether it’s you are talking, the devil talking, or God talking. That’s how confused he wants you to be. He wants you to get to a place where he is saying some stuff that …show more content…
It looks like a nice place.” The Lord says, “No problem! If Hell’s what you want, you got it.” The man gets back on the elevator and returns to Hell. When he steps off the elevator, he’s surrounded by fire and brimstone. People are screaming and hollering as the intense heat scorches them. The man says, “Now wait a minute. What happened? Yesterday when I came down here, y’all were drinking mint juleps and playing golf and all that kind of stuff!” Then the devil walks up to him and says, “Yesterday we were recruiting!” So, what I’m trying to show you, men, is that the enemy is trying to make us think that his way is better. You know what I’m saying? He wants you to think his way will give us some great advantage or benefit or profit. But I guarantee you that his way is the way of destruction. His way is the way of death. And it’s an eternal death. Because the thing is that you will end up living in Hell right here on Earth, and then dying and going to Hell. Are you still with me? Let me give you an example. Your thoughts don’t introduce themselves by saying where they originated. Thoughts just come like fiery darts. Have you ever been in a place where you’re just sitting and thinking, and some stuff jumps up in your head? And you think “where did that come from?” Right? “I shouldn’t be thinking this stuff! My God!” That’s why you have to remember that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. You’ve got to fight that spiritually. Sometimes, men, when we
Be it so, since he who now is sovereign can dispose and bid what shall be right: furthest from He is best, whom reason hath equaled, force hath made supreme above his equals. Farewell, happy fields, where joy forever dwells! Hail, horrors! Hail, Infernal World! And thou, profoundest Hell, Receive thy new possessor—one who brings a mind not to be changed by place or time. The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.”
Yusef Komunyakaa was an African American soldier in Vietnam. After his service, he wrote a book full of poems that depicted what it was like to be a soldier in Vietnam, and titled it Dien Cai Dau. If the title were to be translated it would latterly men “to be crazy in the head”. The book brings up a lot of different questions that would seem crazy for a solder to think. One of these questions is not only relevant to soldiers in war but also to us. This question is: What do we see? That is a question that we all ask ourselves when we see someone else. We all know that people have bias and often find it hard to look past that first impression until you really get to know that person. While we as normal people have our own visions of people
In her book, An Unquiet Mind, Kay Jamison instills an understanding of bipolar disorder from two opposing perspectives. Initially, Jameson tells a tale of herself as a long-term victim of bipolar. It is from her description that a reader is highlighted about the various avenues through which the condition attacks. Besides exploring the disorder as the victim, the book as well depicts Jamison as the healed. That is, she gives an account of her life as an individual who survived the grips of bipolar disorder and became a healer (psychotherapist and a lecturer) instead. Reflecting on Jamison’s work An Unquiet Mind automatically triggers the desire of the reader to unearth more about the author, her context, and diagnosis of the bipolar disorder.
The door flung open and the Devil stood there, with his horse, starring Tom down. “Did you call for me?” the Devil asked grinning. “No, sir. You must be mistaken, sir. It was not me!” Tom blurts out and starts to walk backwards towards his desk. “So you are not only a crook, but a liar too!” the Devil starts towards Tom. Tom rifles through his desk looking for his Bible. He finds it hidden under a mortgage. Tom grabs the Bible for dear life. The Devil laughs. “There is no longer time to repent! You gave up your repentance, when you realized greed was more than your soul!” The Devil grabs the Bible a throws it across the room. Fear spreads across Tom’s face. The Devil grabs him by the head and throws him outside. Tom cannot comprehend what is happening. Tom gets lifted upon the horse. Everyone in the bank watches out the windows. A look of terror across their faces, for they have just saw Death with their own
What type of mindset do you have? As a matter of fact, The story is about “The Two Basic Mindsets That Shape Our Lives,” and the author (Carol Dweck) research on mindset goes into great detail. Dweck research is good because it could change somebody life if they determine what type of mindset they have.
I recently read The Screwtape Letter by C.S. Lewis, and the most striking thing I learned was that the devil does not put things in our mind, but rather lets us succumb to temptation on our own. In every instance of temptation, we must resist the urge to sin and grow closer to God.
Retrospective think aloud is call the process where the teacher bring the reader back to the text and use the transcription and notes to talk with the reader about what the student did and did not in certain portions of the text. Teachers can share strategies that may have been helpful, call students attention to things they may have missed, and share how a more proficient reader may have approached the text to improve their comprehension.
I have notice that you're not as motivated on schoolwork as you need to be. Which is something I’m willing on helping you achieve it. Having a Fixed Mindset can affect you in many ways. Therefore, I’m seeing that is affecting you in school. You think that you are not smart enough and/or can not do certain things. Let me tell you that you are wrong. In order to success you first fail. It may sound ridiculous but believe it is true. Not everybody is successful at their first try. Not everybody is born smart. Many people fails so many times that they lose hope but that is the point of failing because you get to push yourself farther to reach your goal and learn from mistakes. That is the number one step in Growth Mindset not giving up. Asking for help is also a big step in everything. Hence, do not believe that abilities can not be improved.
We have to know our major enemies. It is not the devil or something else. It is ignorance on three main categories: fear, disappointment and anger. Do not entertain these three in your life. The fear of what am I going to do, the fear of the pressure from others, and the fear of ignorance, and the fear of man. We need to stand firmly on the promises of God by faith.
Well you think the statement “In the midst of evil you want to be good man” Justice is what a man wants courtesy and harmony, unity, but during war someone has to lose. What is he talking about when he states “you are never more alive than when you are almost dead. Well you can believe that nothing really matters during the point of death.

Beliefs are the intangible idea’s we form to help us keep going when we are in a rough part of our lives. They are the things we fall back on when we are forced with a tough decision. But most importantly, they are the parts of our identity that make us special. My biggest belief is in confidence. It makes you perform well, and it makes you able to stand up for yourself. But most of all, I believe in confidence because it is the most powerful and important mindset. I got my belief from playing soccer. Confidence has affected me more than anything else with soccer. When I thought I would play well, I played well. When I thought I would play poorly, I tightened up and was awful. This was very hard because my confidence would take a little hit then it would take a long time to recover because as my confidence went down, my skill went down, Then as my skill went down, my confidence went down even further and it was this horrible cycle that was almost impossible to escape from. This is why before I could control it, playing soccer just stopped being fun. If I couldn’t play well, why would I play?
Many of us fine ourselves in a state of being "battle weary." I know I have. It begins with a good thing and a God thing to refute our enemies. Because of fear, lack of knowledge and misapplication of spiritual warfare strategies, we take on the war ourselves with an over zealous and presumptuous approach towards demonic spirits. What has happened is learned about all these spiritual warfare strategies, but we engaged in it without being prepared in our hearts. We claimed our righteousness of God in Christ. We hurled the blood of Jesus in the devils face without first applying the blood of Jesus to our own hearts and lives through confession and repentance.
<br>There are other speeches of war in the epic that arouse the reader. One of the most significant is after Satan has made a meeting in the new Capitol of Hell, Pandemonium. "To have built Heaven high towers; Nor did he scape \ By all his engines but was headlong sent \ With industrious crew to build in Hell" (Milton 55). Following the rapid building, all the fallen angels gather for their meeting asking shall it be war or peace. "Their rising all at one was as the sound \ Of thunder heard remote. Towards him they bend \ With awful reverence prone, and as a god" (Milton 79). When his followers cheer Satan on, the reader notices how much he likes the attention. This is another sign of how Milton shows the significant role that Satan's pride plays in his decisions. In many different encounters Satan lets his pride interfere with his actions. In doing this, Satan begins to worry only about himself and the opinions his followers hold of him. Satan continues with the speech saying, "Should we again provoke \ Our Stronger, some worse way his wrath may find
powerful speeches. In Book II, he gives a long yet powerful speech describing his plan to ultimately defeat God. Two of his followers, Belial and Moloch, are debating whether or not they should try to go to was against God or not. Satan then, rather charismatically, convinces them of a foolproof strategy. He has learned of God's plan to create Earth and the human race. Satan says that the best way to defeat God is to destroy this. Satan is in a sense preaching to the “underdog,” convincing his followers that they have a chance to defeat God: “To suffer, as to do,
