Felicity Although there are a number of different nuances and qualifications for this particular term, happiness actually can be defined. In fact, it usually helps to best define happiness in terms of what it is and what it is not. Happiness is certainly a state of fluctuation there is no consistent, prolonged state of felicity. If so, it then becomes normal, the normal becomes boring, and the result a sort of benign content becomes a bland, meaningless state devoid of any significant stimulus. Instead, what is needed for happiness is the vicissitudes of life. Were there no unhappiness, there could not be happiness. Happiness, therefore, is a function of rebounding from and considering the unhappiness that is a potential for virtually almost everyone, although the unhappiness for a particular individual is most relevant to him or her. With that in mind one of the most essential qualities regarding happiness is the fact that it is extremely relative, much like motion, and is best defined as the feeling of satisfaction (ideally punctuated by elation) one gets after achievement or averting the negative vicissitudes on might have encountered. There are several works of literature that can substantiate the preceding thesis. One of the most convincing is Tom Hewitt's article "Learning From Tison" which appeared in The Sun Star. In this piece, the author does well to explain the relative nature of happiness, which he does by presenting the lives of Indonesian villagers
Everyone has distinct viewpoints of happiness. It is subjective. Happiness for a lot people is a form of something a person does that makes them comfortable or something they really appreciate doing. Some people say happiness is hanging out with their loved ones. Others say happiness is when they distance themselves from everyone to do their own thing in their own world. Since people have an alternate viewpoint of happiness, the definition isn't particular and the meanings are diverse.

However, what one person finds happiness in may bring sadness and sorrow to another. Some people only value greed and money, while others may find happiness in nature and being able to live another day. There seems to be no universal criteria to define what exactly happiness is.
“The Happiness Hypothesis” by Jonathan Haidt is the first book I've read of its kind, mostly because I've been trying to feel my way through life so far one step at a time, and I will likely never forget it. There are things to be learned within this combination of ancient wisdom, research, and Haidt's connection of it all, valuable lessons for approaching and understanding the human experience. Reading something like this young, and taking it with me throughout my life and comparing it to my own experience will indeed make it a very valuable tool.
In my definition of happiness, happiness is when someone who experiences frequent positive emotions. These emotions can all be illustrated with joy, interest, and pride. An unhappy person often portrayed negative emotions, such as anger and sadness.
In the article “What Happiness Is’’, by Eduardo Porter, states his point of view about the definition of happiness. Gandhi states “Happiness is when you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony” (qtd. in porter 459). In my opinion happiness can be described in many of ways from different individual’s point of view. My perspective of happiness is when you accomplish something in life, because makes you so proud of what you have done. Happy is something that makes you happy whether it’s a person, a thing or stuff and happiness is desired to be happy. Happiness is important role to maintain happy because without happiness the world would be different.
In a textbook dictionary, happiness can be defined as “the state of well-being and contentment” (Merriam-Webster) , but the plan is for us to find out what happiness means from a psychological standpoint. A psychological definition of happiness is “a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.” (Wikipedia). Common people's happiness may consist of having a good paying job, a happy family, good friends, the list could go on and on about people's different way of defining happiness. No one would know the struggle behind to people's happiness, a well paying job would of consisted of years of tedious schoolwork while
In order that people understand a topic, they have to decompose topic’s meaning by many ways. The meaning of happiness is a challenge question to everyone. It can be interpreted as many different meanings for different groups of people. The meaning from Google shows that it is a state of being happy; likewise, the definition of Cambridge Dictionary explains that it is the feeling of being pleased, or happy. However, these definitions are too vague because the state of being pleased or happy is not a situation how everyone defines it. There is always an argument between how people provide the meanings of happiness. Happiness, what is happiness? Is it a person? A thing? Or does it something much greater than that. In the dictionary happiness is the state of being happy. Every person has a different idea on what happiness is. It doesn’t have to be just one simple thing, it could be an abundant of things together that creates happiness. Being happy and having happiness are one in the same but then again are different. Being happy is just being pleased at one thing at one time, being happy is an emotion, but having happiness is much more, it's a lifestyle.
What is happiness? Happiness is a state of contentment. For instance, when I was a child at the age of 5 years old, I would find happiness by eating dirt, playing hide and seek, and being with my older siblings. The connotation could be defined in many actions; it depends on who the question is towards. If somebody just sees the negative aspects of life he does not notice the wonderful ones. Happiness comes in a whole variety of ways.
Every individual has his definition of happiness according to his needs and preferences in life. It is, therefore, quite difficult to come up with a generalized definition of happiness. However, happiness can be defined as combining various satisfactions in life and experiencing more positive than the negative emotions (Elkrief 23). To be happy, individuals should use their strengths to ensure that they contribute to a larger purpose in life. That is why volunteers are happier than those whom they help because they have used their strengths to fulfill a better purpose in life.
It is certainly difficult to define happiness, because people have different perceptions about this abstract concept. In my opinion, various factors are considered crucial in the pursuit of a happy life. (Great!)
It can be difficult to give a proper definition of happiness, because it can mean different things to different people. I believe happiness is a state of emotion where you feel pure joy from anything ranging from being with family to seeing breathtaking scenery. For me, the simple things bring me happiness; reading a good book, attending church, helping others in my community, they make me feel joyous.
In society happiness is depicted as a person’s wellbeing in terms of wealth and status. The definition can vary due to an individual perception of life. By that being said happiness is not something that can be shown through materialistic things, but more so a person’s state of being internally. In addition to that, happiness can be misinterpreted due to society making happiness be something that only a person who lives lavish or have the attributes of a normal or perfect life. Because happiness is based off of an individualistic view, one cannot judge another person’s happiness in terms of what is or is not happiness in a person’s life.
Happiness is a very broad yet complex topic to discuss. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called neurotransmitters) in the brain and if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these chemicals in the brain.
