The center where I’m doing my placement it’s the JCC. The JCC campus is 32 acres and it offers different services to the community. The programs that the JCC offers are a childhood center, teen and youth programs, summer camps, a fitness center, sports teams, indoor-outdoor pools and events to help the community. The Siegel JCC is a non-profit center and one of their goals it’s to bring the community together. The mission of the JCC is to bring our community together and to be the hub of Jewish life in our region. They encourage social, physical, and intellectual growth in the center that is guided by Jewish values and culture. The center welcomes everyone and provides them with a positive environment.

Summer camp k’ton ton is designed for children of ages 2 through four. This program is for children to do over summer they spent time with other children by doing different activities together. Some of the activities they do together are music, swimming, snack, story time, Shabbat celebration, creative arts and much more. Sunday family fun day is provided by the JCC in the gymnasium. They do course obstacle, catch games, bouncing moon houses for the children to enjoy. The JCC also offers Birthday Parties for children to celebrate. It offers different customized party places and different options to choose to customize. Some of the options they provide are Jcade, sports galore, arts/crafts, pools, climbing walls and moon bounces and tumbling tots. This are the programs that the JCC offers to children and families to enjoy.
The curriculum is designed to support and help children development. Delaware Early Learning Foundations help to align the curriculum which was created by the education department to provide a successful education to the children growth. In the curriculum children will learn and develop their social-emotional skills by interacting with other children. In the classroom, they also see about self, family, weather, friendship, animals, colors, community helpers, Jewish holidays and things around them. Each curriculum is supported by different specialist from example a physical education specialist helps children to develop on body awareness,

The Children’s Bureau was created in 1912 by Lillian D. Wald and Florence Kelly (“The story of…”). The main goal for this bureau was to create standards that would impact the way children were treated. There are several issues that the Children’s Bureau covered. These issues include infant and maternal death, child labor, orphanages, child health and recreation, delinquency and juvenile courts, family economic security, abused and neglected children, and foster care (“The story of…”).

“Play is developmentally appropriate for primary-age children and can provide them with opportunities that enrich the learning experience” (Copple & Bredekamp 2009). Early childhood education holds two main focuses; a child-based focus and a family-based focus. Early childhood education has positive outcomes on the child through their learning experiences, and their growth and development. Based on the family, the results of early education happen through the communication that the family has with the educators and by the encouragement they get from within themselves, and also from the educators.
When child go through transitions they need people they have built up positive relationships with to help support them through the changes in their lives. We use circle time to explain to the children what is going to happen and they can talk about their feelings children will make a better transition if they know what is going on. We take are cues from the children on how much information is given and how much an explanation is required. We allow time for the information to be processed some children might have delayed reaction and might want to talk later at a quieter time. We are always to be truthful in all our answers so we keep their trust. Throughout the ECCE 1101 Introduction to Early Childhood course at Savannah Technical College there were several theorists introduced in the course that had a major impact on molding the foundation for an understanding of early childhood as a whole. Although the scope covered a broad spectrum of early childhood, majority of the main focus was on early education. The work of Lev Vygotsky greatly influenced the field of early education. The education of the young mind is an important step in preparing the child for future learning experiences. The evolution of early childhood education has changed how adults and parents view the importance of offering stimulating and exciting opportunities to the very young. Early childhood Education offers the young child learning experiences that benefit them throughout their educational career. They soon embark on a whole new world of learning. These children are not only experiencing standard brain growth, but verbal and physical skills as well. Early childhood education teachers use a variation of techniques for instructing. They use lesson plans, worksheets, and even teacher resources for these young minds.
Child Psychology, study of children’s behavior-including physical, cognitive, motor, linguistic, perceptual, social, and emotional characteristics-from birth through adolescence. Child psychologists attempt to explain the similarities and differences among children and to describe normal as well as abnormal behavior and development. They also develop methods of treating social, emotional, and learning problems and provide therapy privately and in schools, hospitals, and other institutions.
The Early Development and Learning program follows the Early Childhood Education program with the exception of the student teaching experience. Early development and learning majors take part in an internship. Students of this major are not eligible for teaching certification.
Early childhood is a time full of curiosity, exploration, creativity, excitement, and rapid development. During these formative years, children develop attitudes about education that remain with them for the rest of their lives (Kostelnik, Soderman, & Whiren, 2011). High quality early childhood education programs and highly effective, passionate teachers or care providers will not only promote young children’s development and academic achievement but will also foster a lifelong passion for learning. ECE programs and educators utilize learning centers to contribute to young children’s acquisition of literacy, numeracy, creative thinking, problem solving, and motor skills as well as a number of other skills and knowledge (Jarrett, 2010).
As a preschool teacher, I get many opportunities to contact with different directors and supervisors in the school environment. During six years of preschool teaching, through interacting with varied supervisors and working in several schools, I have experienced many positive and negative ones. I have also learned many valuable lessons from these experiences. As we know, everything is not always wonderful. Just as my experience, it is not always optimistic. In this journal, I would like to share my first supervisory experience with you, although it is not a happy one. I feel if I want to learn and improve myself, I need to talk about or reflect the experiences either positive or negative ones.
