The Preamble for the U.S. Constitution is often referred to as the mission statement for the United States. As a mission statement, the preamble provides a list of several goals for the government. Some of the goals it provides are establishing justice, insuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, promoting general welfare, and securing liberty. However, is the federal government really doing its part to distribute the money properly and fulfill all of the goals in the preamble? The budget is divided into three main clusters; the big five, the middle five, and the little five. In each of the three budget clusters, The U.S. Government should make adjustments in the way it is distributing money with changes involving The Big Five, The Middle Five, and The Little Guys. Upon researching more information on this fact, I found that in Philadelphia alone, twenty three public schools were closing yet a $400 million prison was under construction. Although the justice system is important and essential, I feel that too much of the money is being spent on making prisoners happy and neglecting children's education. Art class and physical education suffer because the government cannot afford to give schools the funding yet prisoners have tv, a gym, internet time, three meals a day, a roof over their head, and many more luxuries schools don't have. My ideal budget for The Middle Five would be to retract the millions of dollars spent on prison fundings and put it towards law enforcements raises and education fundings. Additionally, I would take a small amount from the transportation section and put it towards better veteran benefits and homeland security. Lastly the Little Guys, who are neglected the most, are also distributed in a seemingly inefficient
