The preamble played a vital role in shaping America as it is today. Three of the many national goals stated in this essential document include forming a more perfect union, establishing justice, and promoting the general welfare of every citizen. All of these goals have been achieved to some degree since the conception of the document and America continues to thrive and push forward, still as much in its’ prime as it was years ago.

It is the middle of the in 1778, there are men everywhere, cots full of ill soldiers, and smoke filled huts. Half of the population is sick and the soldiers have almost no fight left in them. There are few men with spirit left in the camps at Valley Forge. Thomas Paine states, “These are the times that try men's souls”, and as the men walk around injured, bleeding, frozen, and starving you do not only see hunger and pain, you would see what looked like poverty. Tattered clothing draped on the backs of the worn out soldiers, and starved, skeleton resembling bodies. Even though these harsh times will show the true colors of man, some are boasting with the red, white, and blue of patriotism. While innumerable people believe that there is almost no fight or spirit left, the soldiers that stay have hope to win this war. If I was a soldier at Valley Forge, I would stay. I would continue to

In Peter Charles Hoffer’s For Ourselves and Our Posterity, he talks about how the preamble to the constitution was such a transcendent idea. Hoffer talks about how the way the preamble was written it has been able to adjust and adapt to the needs of the nation over time. In analyzing this novel Hoffer makes many interesting and compelling arguments in saying that the preamble has been one of the most influential pieces of work in helping develop this country. After reading this book and looking at the civil war, the presidency of FDR, and the presidencies of JFK and Lyndon B. Johnson. I have found that I agree with Hoffer’s opinion.

In 1939 the world was plunged into World War II because of the Munich Agreement. The Munich Agreement was an agreement regarding the Sudetenland Crisis between the major powers of Europe after a conference held in Munich in Germany in 1938. The Sudetenland was an important region of Czechoslovakia. The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty created as a result of six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919, which put an official end to World War I between the Allies and Central Powers. The Munich Agreement caused many disagreements between European countries. Collective security was a more effective response to aggression than appeasement because more European countries disagreed than agreed

After 1776, radical change occurred that led our forefathers to create The Preamble. This document is the opening statement to the United States Constitution. Its purpose is to explain why the men writing the Constitution created our government. The Preamble does not provide any laws or assign any certain kind of power. It delivers what the founding fathers intentions were when they wrote the Constitution. The United States had some successes and unfortunately some failures when it came to accomplishing its goals during its early ascendancy because they were able to make the U.S. safe at high costs, and was able to make themselves into a powerhouse of a country.

Economically “In 1763, the average Englishmen paid 26 times as much in taxes each year as the average American colonist paid.” (Shi, Tindall, 120) These taxes were raised because of the war. This money that was coming from the British citizens and was going to “maintaining and defending” (Shi, Tindall, 34) the colonies, and because of this “British leaders thought it [was] only fair that the Americans should pay more.” (Shi, Tindall, 120) So, after all the complaining the Britain’s did British leaders tried to enforce many different taxation “acts” that would lessen the taxes on Britains and raise taxes on colonists. These acts such as the Stamp Act, the Currency Act, and the Sugar Act all ended up falling because the Americans revolted and boycotted the Britain’s in many ways such as, “Thousands signed nonimportation

In the late 1700s, people moved to the United states wanting a better life. They wanted to separate from Britain. The United states were running by its first president George Washington. The french helped America do this. The United States borrowed money from the french to pay for the war. They paid the French back later.

Americans in the early nineteenth century had been, or atleast seemed to be very desent at solving their political problems with compromise. Compromise had been less and less effective at settling these politcal disputes the closer to 1900 it became. It seemed to be revativly impossible by 1860. This impossibity arouse from the North and the South adpoting impervious opinions about politics and slavery that heavily opposed each other. Senator Henry Clay, the "Father of Compromise" clearly stated and believed that it was "utterly impractical" that South Carolina ever wated to suceceed from the United States(Document A).

We all know that earth was changed through the ages. We’ve gone from nothing to dinosaurs, humans, and wars. We’ve, as a race have used and adapted to our environment to meet our needs, such as food and water. We started farming, using domestic animals, and storing the food. The lives of people of the ancient world were shaped by the geography of their region because it affects the amount of food produced, the accessibility to water, and their ease at which to find shelter.

Lincoln’s plan in 1863 involved issuing Ten- Percent Plan, to offer amnesty to any southerner if they would proclaim their loyalty to the Union and also supported the emancipation of the slaves. If ten percent of the state’s voters in the election of 1860 took this oath to the United States only then could they develop a new state government required to abolish slavery. After this then the state could reenter into the Union with complete privileges such as crucial apportionment to the Senate and House of Representatives (Schultz, n.d). However Republicans within Congress wanted to punish the South so they passed the Wade-Davis Bill which required fifty percent instead of ten percent taking an oath of loyalty. Also if southerners wanted to serve in the constitutional convention or earn the right to vote they would also have to take a second oath called the iron-clad oath which stated they had never

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS- November of 1773 an event happened that changed the colonist’s lives forever. During this time the Tea Act was taking place. This helped the British East Tea company by enabling them to send tea straight to the colonies, whereas they usually had to send the tea to England, then on to the colonies. The Parliament thought the colonist would like this change, but because they had to pay the duty, or import tax, which did not sit well with them, they were not so gracious with this decision. They started boycotting English goods, including the tea. Later in the month of November the Sons of Liberty dressed up as Indians and went on the ship containing the tea, and dumped hundreds beyond hundreds of boxes of tea off of the boat.

What makes a person’s spirit triumph ? Love,Laughter, and Nature are all what make a person’s spirit triumph.

Document B is a journal entry written by, Charles Mackay in 1859. It is about some of the rights and restrictions that free blacks had in the North. According to Doc. B, “He shall be free to live, and to thrive, if he can, and to pay taxes and perform duties…”. Document B shows that black men in the North were given the freedom to have a thriving life, pay taxes and have an occupation.

Where there is doubt along with darkness, the human spirit finds a way triumphs. In the documents A through E, different stories are told through books or from someones perspective of the time during the Holocaust. The characters mostly seem to be happy in this tough time bringing up the question, how does the spirit triumph. The love, the laughter, and the natural beauty helps the human spirit prevail. To help these people think and feel positive, they find a way to love.
