Critical thinking is imperative for the benefit of our current and future generations. We have to think through problems with a critical thinking lens to move past them with well through out, constructive solutions. Over the last few weeks moving through this course while reviewing the required text we have discovered new ways to think critically. There are a few lessons that I have taken away from this experience about how I can improve my critical thinking skills.
It inspires young people to aspire to academic excellence by making a difference in this world by their generosity of spirit, service to the community and by developing a strong sense of social justice. We aim to provide excellence in teaching and learning through a challenging and inclusive curriculum and in so doing we teach our students to respond authentically based on a culture of critical thinking, reflection and the use of independent work habits.

Throughout the course of the modernization of education, critical thinking has, figuratively, taken a backseat in regards to the content that is required to be taught. Oftentimes, attempts at thinking critically about a given topic are either hastily addressed or entirely dismissed seeing as they subvert from the status quo or do not ‘fit’ within an arbitrary time limit allotted by the curriculum. Students under the current education system are then subjugated to a routine in which their individual thoughts/opinions are replaced with facts/figures or ‘knowledge’. While students can excel within these academic disciplines, they are often at a loss in terms of critical thinking skills because it was not a focal point of their ‘education’.
Our vision is to develop students who can read, write, speak and compute well, think critically and present themselves as human beings who are confident, humane, civic‐minded,
Hellenistic and Roman Ethics can be divided into two theories. The first theory is Epicureanism. This theory is the belief that humans seek a pleasant life, and that the best way to a pleasant life is by moderate satisfaction. Epicureanism believes there are three kinds of human desires, natural, natural but not necessary, and empty desires caused by society. Natural desires are those a human cannot live without, such as food, water, shelter, friendship, and happiness. Natural but unnecessary desires are those that humans can live without, one example being love, not in the sense of intercourse. Empty desires are ones caused by society and are superficial desires that are self-defeating, including religious superstition and glorifying wealth
To earn full credit your response to each essay question should answer the question completely and average 2 – 3 paragraphs in length. The exam reflects the following course objectives and possible topics:
This week’s reading assignment fittingly focused on critical thinking beyond the assigned text, and course. It expressed the type of critical thinker you can become is completely dependent on your beliefs and willingness to abandon them to go outside your own realm of comfort. It also expresses the belief that although you should go outside our comfort zone, there is still a requirement to learn new words and established facts and ideas. This course began with assignments which allowed us to learn the structure of argument but as we’ve progressed it has become less about the rigid structure but critical thinking and analysis. We have examined news articles, research articles, and popular television programs to see while the rules of arguments and critical thinking are all around us if we allow ourselves to be open to it. I plan to continue using the tools from this course and allow myself to be opened to different situations and persons to observe how both good arguments are made and critical thinkers arrive at their decisions.
I have used the feedback from my peers and instructor in this course to gather my thoughts and share ideas in which may increase my knowledge and confidence to becoming a better role model in the future for my students. Whenever constructive feedback is given this will improve new skills and developments even from my classmates and instructor it helps to perform and analyze on how to respond to questions. It is great to be challenge in which supports us to be critical thinkers.
In short, this course was very informative and it the most significant learning experience for me was defining critical thinking because I was intimidated by the word critical thinking. For the most part, I knew what the term critical thinking meant because I apply it in my everyday life. However, in our first assignment, I had to read to read define critically thinking several times to get a better understanding. In my own words, I described critical thinking as analyze a subject in more depth, but I learned in our reading assignments that the definition of critical thinking is “define as a set of skills which an individual applies to not only to another person reasoning, but also to one’s own reasoning” (Black, 2012, p. 59).
The ability to think critically, is one of the most important skills learned during anybody’s higher education experience. Critical Thinking is something we all must learn, and are constantly improving upon. One of the most basic definitions of critical thinking is forming a decision based on logical thought, which(which or that?) was carefully considered before forming said decision. In recent years, critical thinking has become a popular teaching subject in academia. This is because educators believe by teaching critical thinking, they can improve a student’s ability to succeed, not only in the class room, but in all their endeavors. Critical thinking is important, because it becomes one of the greatest tools we can utilize, as we continue
To encourage the development of critical thinking and analysis skills in a group of students,
In the course of our field trip last March 5 to the provinces of Bataan and Laguna, one question had come up to me as I marvel at the various sites in our trip. What is really our Filipino culture and, more importantly, how do we preserve it in the rapidly changing times of our modern world? With the help of this reflection paper, I hope to find the answer and enlighten myself with the identity of my country – and in that effect – of myself as a Filipino too.
