" Did you see what was on Facebook last night about the fight," yes it was such a big scandal I took screenshots," but were you able to finish the essay we had due today for English." oh no I totally forgot." Today at 2017, the social media is used every day, every min, second and hour of the day. There are plenty wonderful things you can experience on social media, therefore, they do not just experience on social media, they also learn and get offended. Therefore, people all over the world always want to be participating in social media. In reason that today there are plenty of beautiful things, you can learn and experience on the internet that it's incredible to not want to be on social media therefore in mind for the reasons that we are able to participate in all the useful things on the internet, plenty of times we overuse it to the point where its taking advantage of our lives over time. Perhaps to continue we should learn how to limit our time on the internet and experience things in the world it would help you physically and emotionally. Although it's really great to use the internet on the daily. People are abusing the internet causing to gain a weird and boring lifestyle and also unhealthy. "All of this access can be dangerous; those who abuse the internet can become trapped in a cyber riptide of sorts, pulled in further and further as their time online increases, their school performance declines and their family and peer relationships begin to suffer" (source 1). Accordingly, to what I had to say in the paragraph before there are plenty of negative effects that will occur if you overuse the internet. Plenty of other ways it will affect your daily life if you overuse the internet will be you falling into depression and also failing in school and health issues. Therefore, it would affect your education and your participation in physical activities. The internet does have an impact in your life, perhaps not only awful influences for that reason there are also plenty of great consequences that will happen if you use the internet often. It has been observed that if you are on online more often you will improve your typing skills, communication, tolerance, also basic computer skills for the reason
In the article “Addicted to Distraction” by Tony Schwartz, he argues that the internet has a relentless pull on humans. He goes into detail on how the internet interrupts all daily activity. Schwartz also explains how he is also a victim to the internet and how he is overcoming the overuse of it. The internet does have a grasp on the attention of humans. People willingly give up their primary focus and activities just to check their devices. People are imprisoned to the internet and don’t even realize that it is leading to a deterioration of their learning ability.
The idea behind the internet was to revolutionize society and with over 3 billion individuals using it, it clearly succeeded (ITU, n.d.). However, individuals started coming online to check their email, watch a video, visit Facebook, or play an online game as a habit, may easily become addicted to these behaviors over time. According to the DSM-V, internet addiction applies to individuals who use the internet excessively, often without realizing how much time has passed, how much more they are using the internet and neglecting their basic needs, as well as, ignoring any negative impacts said internet use has caused (dsm). When not using the internet, the individual may feel withdrawal, angry, tense, and/or depressed; in addition, they may feel the need to have a better computer and more software, which is an internet-addicted individual’s form of tolerance (dsm). Time of use per day in those addicted to the internet is nearly double the time those who are not addicted spend online (Lee,
In the article, “Caught in the Web: More People Say Heavy Internet Use is Disrupting Their Lives, and Medical Experts are Paying Attention” by January W. Payne argues that using technology too much, has consequences that can affect the people around, and the individual’s health as well. At the same time, many people use internet excessively, and do not realize that, they might get further from the outside world. According to a research by Stanford University, demonstrated, that people spend on the internet about 3 or more hours daily. Many people are getting addictive to the internet, because they see it as an escape from problems, while others use it as a way to relax themselves. As people addiction to the internet increase, people isolate
Balance is a word that our society struggles with for a variety of reasons. From the perspective of a teenager, finding a balance between school, social life, and health is a challenge that is nearly universal. The TV show, 13 Reasons Why, clearly portrays the lack of balance that teenagers can face if they prioritize one factor over another. In the video clip, the girl is receiving numerous messages from students in her school in response to an Instagram post, which rated girls based on their appearance. The list made her best friend, Jessica, act passive-aggressively, and it served as a stimulus for boys to start objectifying the girl. Consequently, there is an unbalance between the girl’s social situation and other aspects of life. While this scenario is a more exaggerated experience that some teenagers could face, it still displays the reality of the issues that can arise from the use of social media.
Why have you waited so long to discover your gifting? Who have you allowed in life to downplay your talents and gifts? Do you realize that God views you as His excellent gift?
What can we do to make social media unique once again? We define social media as a way to communicate and keep up with today's news. Social Media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat are the four mainstream media most of us use now in our daily lives. Although many people may disagree about changing our social media it will help create a new future for everyone. Creating a new social media app that is made for communicating with the communities and around the world with a unique feature from each of the mainstream media that we use everyday to assist our lives.
People like to share the best moments of their lives to make it seem as if they have an exciting life. Imagine being able to know everything about someone just by looking at them. With a single glance during interaction, you can see someone’s profiles and activities. This would interfere with privacy as it allows everything about someone to be exposed. It would seem great and safe to encourage such a system, but it would also create bias people as they would reveal certain things about themselves that seem likable since they are aware that others can see such information.
Nowadays almost everyone has a cellphone, and most people have a computer, or some gaming device to play when they are bored. This is great to do when you are not busy. In fact it is a easy way to access almost any information you need. It is faster to find information on the internet than to read through a long book. This also takes away time for reading, playing outside, hanging out with other people. It is important to learn all the benefits and the harm the internet causes, so you can decide to keep using it as often, or you can reduce the usage and start gathering information through books and newspapers. There are some people think that the internet is good, and there are some people that think the internet is bad. The internet has more negative than positives affects to the users, and it makes people socially less intelligent, harder to concentrate on a task, causes people to skim read, and induces people to be lazy.

I have chosen to write on the topic Media and Work because the press significantly affects our daily activity and is used by a large percentage of people. Social media makes one’s social life more visible to the world. Social media includes sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter and has been growing in popularity over the past years. The popularity has provided more opportunities for data collection by companies. The companies collecting the data require the critical focus on social media surveillance. Social media surveillance is surveillance of information in profiles from different social contexts. It has led to the exploitation of social media users and self-exploitation by the supervision as discussed below.
The internet has impacted our ways of living in a negative way. It has made us a lazy generation. We no longer stand up and do things ourselves. We rely on the internet to take us places and bring us what we need. “his favorite pastime was to dream up new places to go, and visit them on his computer.” (Source1) instead of going himself into the real world to discover them with his own eyes. Which is how the internet has impacted many people now, it has made us lazy and has decreased the amount of imagination we have. We just click on buttons to see the places in pictures instead of looking at them face to face to fill up our imaginations with the feelings we get from those places. The internet has made us a lazier generation, but it is not the only bad impact it has had on humans.
How many times have you liked a picture about a cute puppy, but scrolled past the children in Romania, who are homeless? This simple question is not meant to make you feel bad. Thousands of Americans do this every day when they are scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The real question, however, is why do we, as a society, tend to “like” the cute things, like the puppy, but ignore the real-life problems in the world, such as orphan children in Romania, a hot topic as of late. The answer is desensitization. Desensitization sits heavily in researcher’s stomachs when they see that most people like the happy family story, but cringe and don’t bother to click on the link to the War on ISIS. This is why social media is not a good outlet for people to display their lives. Social media gives an unrealistic expectation to how lives should be lived when all that is seen on Facebook is the “together” family, and not the “broken” family.
Over the course of many decades the technology the world once knew is now turned into a way of life that has taken over the country. Not only do people spend up to 50% of their day on social media, but it is taking away from the fundamentals of life itself. The society that our parents grew up in can not compare to the life kids are living in today. Instead of posting selfies on Instagram kids were outside playing at the park with their friends in person, rather than through a screen at home. Today's society is in a corrupt state due to the fact that people of all ages are spending at least half of their day consumed by a portable screen causing them to lose family time, connections with their friends, and sense of personal time.
In today's society, almost everyone has a cell phone, and most people have a computer, or some gaming device to play when they are bored. This is great to do when there is nothing to do. In fact, it is an easy way to access almost any information that is needed. It is faster to find information on the internet than to read through a long book. This also takes away time for reading, playing outside, hanging out with other people. It is important to learn all the benefits and the harm the internet causes, so people can decide to keep using it as often, or we can reduce the usage and start gathering information through books and newspapers. There are some people think that the internet is good, and there are some people that think the internet is bad. The internet has more negative than positive effects on its users, because it makes people socially less intelligent, decreases an individual's ability to concentrate on a task, causes people to skim read, and induces laziness.
Try imagining ourselves get stuck in a pristine island, where internet access is not available. Ask ourselves, would us be able to live without scrolling our Facebook and Instagram to see what ours friends are doing, googling things to seek for information or watching videos on YouTube to entertain ourselves. We definitely could survive that way, but our days would be dull and lifeless since we could not do what we were accustomed to in our daily life. The truth is we rely on Internet too much nowadays, and it consequently becomes a great deal to get through our days. We depend on internet everywhere whether we are at school, at home or at work. However, while we are busy immersing our live with what are provided by internet, most of us did not realize this advent creation has brought us more drawbacks than benefits. Internet does not just affect our daily life, but it negatively impacts the most powerful organ in the body, our brain. Internet slowly changes the way our brains work, makes it less functional in certain ways.
