Engineers are problem solvers, and are driven by a curious mind and the instinct to know the How and Why of processes. My inquisitiveness is what has fuelled my academic career, and I hope it will be the trait that I can rest most of my future education too. I am keen to learn more in the field of Computer Science to further my career once I am geared with an extensive and wholesome knowledge base. After nearly 4 years working in this field, I have realized just how vast and pervasive its scope is, something I find exhilarating and motivating in light of the fact that I didn’t focus on Computer Science in my undergraduate career. I hope to learn more about the practical applications in this field to give me a sustained edge in my career.
At present we are in a technological and computing revolution that will severely change our lives and eventually readdress what it means to be a human. I am very galvanized at the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still tremendous developments to come in this field. So I choose Computer Science as my university major, and now, as I am in the end of my undergraduate course, my central goal is to continue my education in a more competitive and international environment.
Playing games on my father's computer as a child fascinated me in the way the computer works, how fast it develops, and now how the computer helps the world to communicate. It still amazes me in how fast computers change and how communication across the globe is enhanced with the computer. Computers have drastically changed how society lives and does business. Even small businesses can do global sales without leaving their location. With new strategies for business, comes cyber threats of identity theft and theft of intellectual property that brings information technology security and new laws into play. It is becoming a fast and ever challenging world. Computer science enables the ability to program software for protection against these kinds of threats and vulnerabilities. It also enables the ability to program artificial intelligence into the computer system software to enable society to meet their needs in more appropriate ways.
“The computer was born to solve problems that did not exist before.” This famous quote by Bill Gate is what inspired my interest in the field of computer science. The unabated advances that have taken place in the field of computer science in the past few decades are a standing testimony to the fact that computers have a lot of potential of improving this world. I grew up at a time that coincided with these advances in modern computing. There is still tremendous development that can be done. This potential is what motivated me to pursue my undergraduate studies in this field. My academic experience in college provided me with a wide range of knowledge and skills. The first two years of my undergraduate study were about freshman courses like data structures, networks, database systems and algorithm design, which gave me a strong background in the basics of computer science. During the final two years of my study I took courses like computer security, program analysis, image analysis, machine learning and computer vision. Such a variety of courses helped in acquiring an overall perspective into this field. I developed a particular interest in pattern recognition, machine learning and image
Few areas of my education have stimulated me to think as much as my undergraduate courses in Discrete Structures, Computer graphics, Neural networks, System Programming, Microprocessor, Compiler construction and design, Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms design and analysis, Theory of Computation and Computer Programming. Here are innovations that keep evolving not only technically but also hold infinite scope for creativity and logic. I feel a similar sense of exhilaration when I see my own code run successfully. It is this feeling, which till date, drives me to not give up on even the toughest of problems. And it is this love for programming, combined with my desire to dig deeper into the working of various applications and technologies, which propels me to apply for a Graduate Program in computer
My major has gradually revealed the fundamental disciplines and inherent architectures as well as systems of the computer and how to learn programming in the past several
My strong passion towards computers originated at the age of 7, when a desktop version was first brought home. Though punching on the keyboard keys and swinging the mouse around was all I could do then, computers and its functionality always remained to be much of an enigma to me. As years went by, I wasn’t surprised when I realized how eager I was to learn its functionality and architecture. This pushed me to utilize all the Computer Science classes in my school and then slowly with time and with both theoretical and practical knowledge I grasped at school, my relationship with computer and its technology improved. It was then, that an unending zeal towards the subject built up within me.
It is universally agreeable that with the advent of Computer technology, every ambitious and enthusiastic individual is really obsessed with the idea of doing computer science at graduate level because it seems to have created a zeal and enthusiasm in the hearts of youth, particularly those who aspire to be marked as high achievers. I, for one, seem to have been enchanted by these computer applications as they have made the world smaller, speaking in terms of globalization. I have no hesitation to add that core computerization alone is the suitable answer to all the areas unexploited and to the areas waiting for development. It has always been a fascination for me about how computers work, how these applications are designed and what can be the newer ways to explore the world of computers to make our world better. This interest became a passion for me when I was exposed to computer science basics, during my middle school. Pursuing computer science engineering at undergraduate level, further propelled my passion for computer science along with providing me a deeper insight and in-depth understanding of the subject. After completing my under graduation in Computer Science, I am willing to expedite my research interest and a masters degree seemed the most appropriate choice for realizing my aspirations.
My love affair with computers started in high school when I read about the work of Alan Turing and how he created an advanced computer system to break German codes and thus helped win the war. My fascination grew when I found out that the console games I played at home were essentially pieces of computer codes running on specialized computer systems. When I had Computer Applications as a course of study in my school, I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find how these intelligent machines ticked. Sensing my curiosity, my family bought me a computer system, which greatly contributed to my knowledge of this wonderful device. I explored every nook and cranny, trying to understand and further deepen my knowledge in this particular field, going as far as sneaking into advanced classes on computers in my school.
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, a premier University in India.
“If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” – Albert Einstein.
When I was 18 years old, my father bought me a tool that became the foundation of my future learning. It was my first computer. While my brothers fought over their gaming console, I spent hours writing scripts and small programs that I could run on my new machine. My dad knew that my passion for computers had grown exponentially throughout high school. Each week, I would spend hours in the library poring over books that were marked "FOR REFERENCE ONLY." My friends thought I was strange, not wanting to use my computer for gaming. However, my best friend shared my interest throughout high school and together we started a small business. We knew more about computers than our teachers, and every time they had a problem with the school system, they would ask either me, or my friend. Most of the teachers thought it was cute, and suffered a little ego loss because of their inability to troubleshoot their own systems. One teacher was different. She saw in me the spark that illuminated all matters engineering; she recognized the source of my passion and helped me to hone it and shine it on everything I did in school. I entered, and won, science fair competitions because of the inspiration and guidance I received from my parents, my teacher, and my best friend. Because I have been surrounded by supportive people throughout my life, my innate talents and interests have been able to blossom fully and will one day bear fruit. Here I am, poised to face the future and whatever challenges
