1.) I look forward to learning to utilize technology effectively in the classroom, because I have heard from friends that are teachers that technology can greatly facilitate successful instruction. The second learning outcome that I look forward to learning is the knowledge of using a variety of technology tools to perform administrative tasks. I believe these skills will allow me to focus on my subject matter more efficiently in a multitude of ways. Lastly, to select representative products to be collected and stored in an electronic evaluation tool and how to evaluate products for relevance to the assignment or task will allow me to become familiar with products that I will need to be able to use in my professional career. I want
Mr. Xis identifying workable strategies for acquiring new information and assure she is mastering this skill for further success
It awesome to know benefitted you in multiple ways. When you talked about technology in assessments, you brought up ways the clients could be helping each other. In the beginning of the course, I was hesitant to summarize the client’s information from an assessment. Towards the end of the class, I became addicted to summarizing and researching the clients symptoms and recommendations.
The reason I chose this piece of work is that I believe that many of my strongest academic skills are presented in it. I completely and accurately answer the given
How will you use knowledge and skills you’ve developed in this class in your academic career / life? Give examples.
Lastly, the importance of technology within the classroom is effected by how it is used outside of the classroom. So, a proper candidate will accept the technology around her and uses it to her advantage. Using it to help relate to her students and engage them in learning with that technology. Bringing a new experience for the students with the technology they are use too. The students can view technology different and as a useful tool
Initially, I enjoyed the commentary about how today’s technology is making contemporary classrooms richer learning environments. Being a highly involved individual in technology myself, I whole-heartedly believe that in the right hands or under instruction, technology can make the learning process a more fluent process. For example, when I have had issues with a particular topic or subject matter, I will find videos online, diagrams, and many other technological tools to help.
2. Briefly describe your current unit(s), including the connections between past and future content. What do you want the students to learn?
As a future educator my views of the future of education are varied based on how I would most like to touch the students in my classroom and ensure they are ready for the ever-changing world after their education. Education must be the foundation of how they learn and more importantly what they learn to make them successful later in life. Technology is a tool to help students gain the knowledge and skills needed to make them successful. Technology is needed in the classroom to ensure the students success, but they also must not become so reliant on the technology that they lose their self-identity or the
Since the time of the build I have built an entire new computer that is a tremendous upgrade over the first one I built. Not only is the experience of building a computer going to help prepare me for a computer science major, but my computer has also been an excellent tool. I've used my computer for entertainment, school, and work. It's what I'm using this very moment to type my admission's essay for college. My computer to me is like what a knife is to a chef, or what a scalpel is to a surgeon. Most importantly my computer has helped expand my passion for technology, and I hope to take my passion with me for wherever I go in the
5.) You are asked to participate in a session where teachers in your district are brought together to discuss their opinions and ideas on effectively incorporating technology in the classroom. You and other teachers provide examples of how they were able to engage students using everything from computer games, to youtube. This effort would be referred to as what?
1.) What is the one take-away that you will carry with you as you move on from this course?
Techniques and skills need to be learnt, and cannot be replaced by the convenience of technology. In the primary years, students ought to be grounded with the basics. Once they miss this window, it requires them more to be trained later in life. I marvel at the speed of our technology advancement, but how I desire to see academic advancement in our next generation.
The entire chapter of best practices has no shortage of information and ideas for up and coming teachers and gives ideas of how to achieve certain goals in a classroom. I almost wish I could just list all of the concepts that I want to use in my own classroom for when I start my first year of teaching. But I get to pick three I want to talk about in greater detail and two concepts which I really want to use in my own classroom. Some of the concepts that were talked about that I would still like to keep in mind, even if I don’t find them to be in my top three are; the layers of classroom management, setting up different workgroups, leaving comments on student’s papers, and different practices to make writing meaningful. This being said I want to keep these in the back of my mind so they are prepared as I get closer to becoming a teacher. The three main concepts for me are; having a daily routine, noise and structured chaos, and having pen-pals.
The Kindergarten classroom is large, especially compared to rooms I have seen in other public schools. Upon entering the room, small closets and cubbies are located to the left and right hand sides of the entrance way, each child sharing a closet with one other student. Behind the closets on the left is a crowded section with Mr. A’s desk pushed to the corner and piled high with assessment materials and reference books (I never witnessed it being used for anything other than storage). The section also hosts a wardrobe for teachers to hang their coats and the dramatic play area, filled with a play refrigerator, kitchen sink, table and chairs, and closet. Students have a few blocks, two stools, baskets of fruits and vegetables, kitchen utensils and place settings, dress-up clothing, fabrics, hand bags, and phones all at their disposal for the area.
I will organize my classroom as displayed in the diagram above. I will have an instructional loop so that I will be able to access all of my students easily. In my classroom, I will have a collaborative table so that I will be able to work with a group of students at a time while others are working at their chairs. There will be room in front of the smart board so that students will be able to stand up and move around to use that instructional tool while I am educating them. As a class, the circle time area will be used daily. Where the student cubbies are, I will also have center items in the top cubbies that the students can take to their desk to work on when the time is available to do so.
