First, I learned that I need further development or additional polishing in numerous facets of becoming an effective communicator, and these aspects are audience analysis and strategy, oral communication, team communication, and corporate communication. After completing the Communication Development Plan, I am beginning to learn how to analyze audiences and develop a thorough communication strategy efficiently. Also, I am learning how to deliver impromptu or planned presentations efficiently, and I am starting to become more comfortable and less hesitant in giving presentations. After analyzing the Communication Development Plan and through class assignments, I have become more creative and relaxed in the team situations. Additionally, I have gained insight on how to effortlessly communicate in a corporate environment, and that I can apply what I learned in this class to my workplace. Lastly, I gained valuable knowledge and insight that can aid my professional growth.

Likewise, I always displayed the desire for helping others, and that willingness for helping others is one reason that I pursued a career in the library field, and the SDI survey and the Communication Development Plan reinforced that desire. Based on the positive and negative skills I learned in our group discussion, first, I decided to action plan to develop my skills in communication by, reading books about good communication skills. I think clarifying my objectives and finding common grounds are important for me to improve my communication (Baker, 2013). In other words, explaining what is the purpose of the conversation and building a good rapport with the other person while communicating. Therefore, I decided to find a way to reduce my fear and anxiety and talk confidently with my mentor, service users and other professionals, while I am out for placement (Rhodes, 2013).

I have not yet worked in a school setting, but I have worked in several agencies and offices where collaboration with colleagues was present. One agency I have worked in was a domestic violence shelter, which housed up to forty-five women and children. In addition, we ran a twenty-four hour crisis hotline, provided individual and group counseling services, and educated those out in the community about domestic violence. It took a lot of collaboration with colleagues to have the agency run smoothly and effectively. When issues arose with clients staying in the shelter, my colleagues and I would met to discuss the issues and how we were going to work together to solve them. With everything that we have studied during this class, I found that keeping an open mind and thinking outside the box is the easiest way to approach certain situations that require a special need for communication skills. "Although, our communication skills will always change throughout our lives because of our constantly changing self-concept and perceptions. The goal of the Pre-Health and Science Peer Mentors Program is to help first year African-American students with pre-health interests engage fully in the Washington University experience. In the Navy and Marine Corps providing feedback and counseling to Sailors and Marines is a critical skill that every leader must possess. For this assignment, I was tasked with providing counseling and guidance to a struggling 3/C Midshipmen in my company on how they could improve in meeting the standards with regards to morally, mentally, and physically. For the counseling, I chose 3/C Burns who was struggling academically with a D at six weeks in Thermodynamics, a major course in his matrix. With this Midshipman struggling to meet the mission mentally, I was keen on attacking the issue before it developed into a major problem by providing advice, counseling, and a personal story of being in his place before.

Student M has been attending mentoring program consistently this month. Student M has been working very hard to improve both her Math and English grade by seeking mentoring support on a regular basis. After speaking with Mr. Fernandez, he has communicated how proud of his daughter he was as he notices a great difference in her attitude towards school. Student M has also expressed great interest in joining the future project dream team if she gets accepted into High School for Health Careers and Sciences at the George Washington High School Campus. Student M will continue to attend mentoring program as well as continue seeking educational support.

To continue to learn no matter their age since for some it is just a number, a number that can be overseen to learn something that will make an actual difference in their life or others.
