From a young age, I've had the dream of moving to and immersing myself in the culture of a foreign country. Being able to live and teach in Japan would allow me to fulfill this dream while also being in alignment with the goals of the JET Program. I have the long-term career goal of becoming a literary and media translator of Japanese, and think the program offers a unique opportunity to not only meet and communicate with native Japanese speakers, but also to have a firsthand experience with the culture of Japan. I believe being able to exchange ideas and languages with people from a different background will be both personally and professionally enriching, as well as facilitate goodwill and a sharing of cultures between countries. As an elementary school student, I joined an after school club in which simple origami constructions were taught, in addition to reading and drawing manga. From this, I met one of my first childhood friends, with us bonding over drawing characters and animals in the manga style we learned. I personally preferred origami, and still enjoy making cranes out of lunch receipts, but we became good friends from this …show more content…
I have had a long-term interest in the arts, culture, and history of Japan, and hope to help familiarize the American public with those lesser known aspects, as well as introduce Japanese natives to American traditions and values. I believe my professional experiences, time spent organizing extracurricular activities, and ongoing commitment to learning the Japanese language will help me to perform the duties of the program. I hope my experiences and perspective would be beneficial to the program, that my time teaching in Japan would be personally enriching, and that I can help establish a more intimate relationship and understanding between the US and
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutritional Services is a federal program that provides health care and proper nutrition to low income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women during a crucial time for both mothers and babies. If chosen for the ALT position with the JET Program, I would strive to establish a positive, fun, and upbeat environment that will bring excitement to Japanese students learning English. I took the opportunity to study Japanese during a language class while in High School and I learned so much from the guidance of my Japanese teacher, Mr. Zachary Carr. Mr. Carr’s course inspired me to become a teacher in Japan with his optimistic, calm personality and deep passion for teaching English and Japanese to his students. Mr. Carr also had no Japanese speaking skills while living in Japan, but with his determination and work ethic, he became fluent in the language. While in class, he never gave up on me and my classmates while he was teaching Japanese to us and thanks to him, I have grown a love for the Japanese Language. I will continue this route as an educator and make impacts toward student’s life just like how Mr. Carr impacted my life. I am convinced that my collegiate experiences, interest in Japanese language and culture, and desire to teach make me an ideal candidate.
Snowboards had a cash and cash equivalent of 83.8% during year 12 and year 13, but that
With the release of the new budget for year 9 from Competition Bikes, there are a couple of areas that are a concern that warrant being addressed. The first being the prediction of amount of bikes to be sold; Competition Bikes is expecting 3,510 units to be sold after a year 8 that sold only 3,400 units which was a 15% drop in sales from the year prior (which sold approximately 4,000 units) with zero drop in price point which may make it harder for customers to justify purchasing a bike in the current economy. Understandably, year 8 was in the middle of a recession and the economy could rebound for a productive year 9. However, with only an extra $984 being spent on advertisement, the expectations could fall short unless

Within the budget for Competition Bikes, Inc., there are a few different items of concern. Some items that raise a concern within the budget are the projected number of unit sales and the amounts budgeted for advertising and research and development.
First of all, this program gives me an opportunity to meet other students from Japan. I think learning and living with people from different cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds can definitely be a very unique experience for students. And I would like to be one of those lucky students. Moreover, this program can definitely change my tiny world to bigger world. I think
My intended major is that of bachelors in Japanese. Japanese has always been an interest to me as I grew up in the Japanese side of my household. Due to this upbringing I have been exposed to Japanese culture since I can remember. Though my Father and Grandparents refused to teach me the language as a young age, they began to support my interest in the language and culture when I started journey in Mira Costa Community College. In Mira Costa, while taking my first Japanese course, I was introduced to the Japanese club at the college. In this Club, the members made sure to create activities and programs that would help spread the culture and knowledge of Japanese and the language. Along with this came people that introduced myself to the International
From taking the course in Japan and living with a host family, I had learned a new language that can benefit me to open more career opportunities. If I didn’t go to Japan I might never learn Japanese. I will add in my personal challenge I had faced when I am making the decision to apply for study abroad and the challenge I encounter after I got accepted. As well as some of the challenge I face while living in Japan. The idea of stepping out of comfort zone was not easy, especially spending life in a different country that shares different culture and language. I want to join the Year in Japan program coordinator together to promote the Country of Japan, and encourage the student to step out of their comfort zone and try to consider a country to study abroad where English is not the primary

After reviewing every possible way for me to spend this upcoming summer, I’ve come to the conclusion that being a part of the SURF+ program is, by far, my best opportunity. Every other option I have come across has presented very valuable experiences, but, the departmental research opportunities in surgery have made the SURF+ program truly stand out. I attend Grand Canyon University and I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology and I hope to attend a medical or physician assistant school upon graduation. While I have absolutely loved my experience at GCU thus far, there is one drawback; we lack access to traditional research opportunities. I realize that a firm understanding of the functionality as well as some degree of
1) Attending the STEM academy will do nothing, but benefit me. For starters, joining the academy will motivate me to push myself to my full potential. I’ve never tried hard in school, mostly because nothing seemed to interest me. If I get accepted to the academy, I will push myself harder because these classes can determine my life, which brings me to my next point.
Origami occupied three years of my childhood. I got my hands on an origami book when I was in fourth grade. The book, as I recalled, had a pink cover. The book was special. It was the not the first origami book I had; however, it was a lot more understandable for a kid than the other two yellow-covered origami books. The yellow books taught me to fold dinosaurs using long paragraphs and complicated geometric point naming, an approach that was beyond my intellectual capacity. The pink book only drawings, arrows, and a minimal amount of words, but I produced jumping frogs, fighting sumos, and throwable Shurikens. Having finishing folding everything in the pink book, and I started over. I improved some instructions. I managed to make a flock of ten canes in one piece of paper. Gluing small flowers together, I to make a huge globular flower.
I am truly excited to learn more about Japanese culture and the Jet programme is the best way to achieve this. What attracted me most to the programme was its emphasis on creating global links because this was the most rewarding part of my study abroad. Immersing yourself in the experience of living in another country creates a positive attitude where new relationships become inspiring. I highly valued discussing the similarities and differences within each other’s cultures. By learning about traditions which initially seemed unusual and then finding similarities across cultures, connections grew strongly. I hope to bring these experiences and my interest in global communications to the JET programme and I am keen on expanding my involvement outside of the classroom with the wider community.
