PV2 Starling, LaTonya Importance of Accountability The importance of accountability and communication in the Military is so each and every personal is all on the same page. Also so our organization runs smooth. Communication is the heart of what makes the United States Army what it is today. Without communication vital information would not be passed down from the Chief of Command to a chain of Non Commissioned Officers to the soldiers. Not to mention, innocent lives would be in jeopardy, missions would be misconstrued, and simple information from NCO to soldier would be conflicted. The smallest amount of information is always imperative. For example, if a soldier goes out over the weekend and doesn’t inform anyone of he or she …show more content…
If you always have a hundred percent accountability you will never have any problems like wondering where someone is or like wondering why something missing. If you ever have a problem like that then it is because you are not doing a very good job at keeping track of anything. If someone like that were to be in charge of a large group of people and not know if someone could be missing is not a good way to be leader. That’s why being disciplined on it early in your career is important. I understand. One example of being responsible would be to remember to properly PMCS you’re vehicle prior to taking it on mission. The responsible thing to do would be to go through every aspect of the PMCS and not taking any shortcuts. If your vehicle were to fail on you while you were outside the wire you could potentially endanger everyone’s lives on the entire convoy. As said before responsibility must be used in every part of being a Soldier in the U.S. Army, not just PMCSing a vehicle, responsibility falls under just about every topic such as, waking up with enough time to prepare for your first formation, or mission, being in the proper uniform, and having all of the inspect able items without having to be reminded or helped in any way. Accountability is: the obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. There many reasons why
Why my chain of command have accountability it is easier for them to track down other soldiers in case they were needed for anything. Being accountable means being dependable, showing up to formation at the appointed time, being at the right place and at the right time and doing the right thing at the right time. It is also to see if everyone shows up to formation and or where they are supposed to be. Accountability is not
In case of something happening spontaneously and you don't have a clue where your weapon or sensitive items are. The Army spends a lot of money on equipment and property for soldiers, so the Army expects to know where its equipment and property is. No matter what, someone is always responsible for equipment in the Army. It goes to the highest officer to the lowest enlisted personal in the chain of command and back up again. Like in combat when there is a "code Red" the soldier knows that at a given and safe(safe as possible at least) time he or she should get to the rally point predetermined by his or her chain of command, that way he or she and his or her equipment can be accounted for. Accountability is used in many different ways, for example knowing if something is missing you could easy look at the accountability report to see if it was there before.
For example, if I had not been in my room when I was on quarters, and a fire had erupted in the barracks, I would now be putting my battle buddies or superiors trying to locate me at an extreme and unnecessary risk, especially if they were unable to contact me by phone or if I had not contacted the chain of command. With communication, punctuality and being at your prescribed place of duty all being essential facets of military life and having a direct correlation to the soldierly appearance and combat readiness of a unit, these kinds of faults and mistakes cannot be allowed to permeate our disciplined ranks and taint the effectiveness of our unit . Without punctuality, and therefore discipline there can be no effectiveness or efficiency in our mission of protecting our own and destroying our enemies. If we cannot efficiently destroy the enemy we are no longer an effective or worthwhile unit in the Army.
The importance of accountability, are being on time and in the right uniform. The main reason we have formations and that we are trying to keep account of personnel to know where everybody is at, at all times. I have learned in the past years that I have been in that being on time is the most important thing that you need to do. For one the accountability of personnel is major, it plays a big role in the deployment and the readiness of soldiers. I would have to say that I was wrong for not showing up at my appointed place of duty I should have gotten up and made it to the swimming pool. But in all things that have been done I have seen that accountability is the most important asset here for
Accountability is defined by department of defense as the obligation imposed by a law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping an accurate record of government property, documents or funds. The numerical end product of personnel accountability process reflects the combat power of a unit.
It does not look well on them if they can not complete this task. This actually shows thats the soldier can't be depended on when they are needed. This also hurts them when they are being looked at for promotions or any favorable actions.
Accountability…. What does it mean? The responsibility of an individual or organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to clearly show the results. The army definition of accountability is “the obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, funds or soldiers”. Accountability should not be taken lightly, it is important for NCOs and squad leaders to have accountability over their soldiers. This could be at a formation or meeting, or through a phone call or text message. This is one of the most important things to make sure you have in order in the Army. Poor accountability can effect not on the person missing
The U.S. Army enforces accountability for many reasons; Inventories, Safety, and Work Procedures, and also just being able to keep track of military personnel's at all times. The Army follow a strict, firm, and structural policy or laws. The way accountability plays its role in the Army, it's like the back bone that holds everything together by keeping chaos or commotion at bay.
This essay I am going to write is about the importance of accountability in the army, and as to how it affect the units mission. First off by definition "Accountability is important in the military because soldiers are often times required to perform extremely challenging duties and services. Without accountability, a soldier cannot be expected to meet these high demands and expectations". Being accountable means being in the right place at the right time, being in the proper duty uniform, being dependable and always arriving to work on time, appointments on time and most importantly doing the right thing at the right time and all the time. One of the most important parts about being accountable is so that you do not miss any important
Accountability by definition means the quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one 's actions. Accountability stems from late Latin accomptare (to account), a prefixed form of computare (to calculate), which in turn derived from putare (to reckon). While the word itself does not appear in English until its use in 13th century Norman England, the concept of account-giving has ancient roots in record keeping activities related to governance and money-lending systems that first developed in Ancient Egypt, Israel, Babylon, Greece, and later, Rome. In the United States Marine Corps it is very important to hold yourself accountable for all actions especially true the longer you are in. To myself it refers to the obligation of an individual to report formally to his superiors for the proper discharge of his responsibility. It is the answer ability of a subordinate to render an account of his activities to his superior. The person who accepts responsibility is accountable for the performance of the assigned duties. As such being late to work is a direct violation of accountability. Forgetting ones required materials for work may seem small and harmless but overall may develop into bigger issues if not dealt with accordingly.
Due to the fact, accountability is one of the fundamentals of the military. It not only brings personal responsibility but it also shows the organization of a unit. The US Army depends solely on its soldiers, enlisted, warrant officers and commissioned officers alike. The military would not be anything without the soldiers. When soldiers are not there to perform there duties or they are late, that brings down the efficiency of the unit. Accountability is a great trait to have but it only comes with punctuality.
A lot of the main structure of the Army is placed on accountability. For instance, leadership’s accountability of where a soldier is at any given time, or a
Why is accountability important to the Army? Accountability is a very important part of an enlisted and a NCO's job. The enlisted soldier is responsible for all items issued to issued to him weather it be a weapon, NVG's, clothes, a vehicle, or some TA-50, a feild manual, medication (morphine, demoral,
Responsibility is the stem of a flower. Culpability is the platform for a successful and a fantastic life because people are able to experience growth when owning up to their actions. It is important to take responsibility for your actions because it can make you more reliable, make you mature, and improve someone's day.
Personal experience could not been completed without coming across lack of effective communication skills within the military. The perception I have about the military was that military has never been a profession, but a National services provider. All this was a result of lack of effective communication within work place. Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It is about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is also a two way street. It is not only how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by someone in exactly the way you intended. It is also how you listen to gain the full meaning of what is being said and to make the other person feel heard and understood. Thesis: Effective communication within work place could be achieved with effective good listening skills that eliminate barriers to effective communication and providing feedback.
