Biochemistry has proven to be helpful in many ways. Biochemists have found cures to many diseases, and they have found better ways to cultivate crops to make them disease resistant. These are not the only things biochemists have done for us, but they are just a few of the many things. A lot of people do not know what biochemistry is, or why it is so important. Lipids are any organic compounds that are fatty acids and don’t dissolve in water but do in organic solvents. Fatty acids can be found in natural oils, waxes, and steroids. Proteins are macromolecules that do everything in the cell. They are tools and machines that make things happen. Nucleic acids are long strands of nucleotides, and function primarily in storage and transmission of genetic information. There are two types of nucleic acids, DNA and RNA.
