Importance And Importance Of Biochemistry

Decent Essays

Biochemistry has proven to be helpful in many ways. Biochemists have found cures to many diseases, and they have found better ways to cultivate crops to make them disease resistant. These are not the only things biochemists have done for us, but they are just a few of the many things. A lot of people do not know what biochemistry is, or why it is so important. This paper serves to inform people about why biochemistry is important, along with some other information about it. Biochemistry has been around for a long time. Studies in biochemistry began even before the nineteenth century. The studies conducted back then only pertained to the chemical processes that occur in cells and living organisms. In later years, the type of biochemistry that came to light was known as physiological chemistry. This form of biochemistry …show more content…

Modern biochemistry usually, but not always, pertains to fats, proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids, as well as their functions inside living organisms. There are now many types of biochemistry such as enzymology and molecular biochemistry (PubMed). Biochemists study the chemical make-up of plants and other living organisms. They observe and attempt to understand how the chemical structure can help the living organisms grow and develop. Biochemists also study and observe the materials inside of cells and figure out how they are affected by environmental changes. They also study how certain characteristics and genotypes or phenotypes are inherited by plants and other living organisms. Biochemists can study multiple fields, such as biotechnology and biomedicine. A lot of special laboratory
