In September of 2012, beginning in the country of Saudi Arabia, hospitals began seeing increased cases of a respiratory virus never before seen in humans. They named it Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS. MERS is a viral respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus. It was originally thought to have started there in Saudi Arabia. It was not until later that they were able to trace the origin back to Jordan starting in April of 2012. All outbreaks of MERS have been traced back to originating from the Arabian Peninsula (CDC, 2015a). Unfortunately, it is not known exactly how MERS was contracted in humans, but it is believed to have come from an animal source, probably from camels. Strains of MERS
Social responsibility in business can be defined as the obligation an organization has to minimize its negative social impact on stakeholders and to maximize its positive impact. In this case study we are introduced to a small local grocery chain referred to as Company Q. Located in a major metropolis, Company Q has recently closed some stores in areas of the city with higher crime-rates. They have started to stock a very limited amount of organic and health-conscience products after years of requests from their customers. Management has declined participating in a program to send expired food to a local food bank based on fears of employee theft by means of taking advantage of the situation. Based on the

I performed a SWOT analysis on the current AEnergy technology infrastructure. A SWOT analysis is a technique and opportunity for a thoughtful overview of where things are good and where things need improvement. SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. I’ve reviewed our system for all four of the SWOT attributes to give the following summary and suggestions.
1. A. Ernestine Friedl says that the position of women is higher the more they are involved in primary subsistence (as owners or controllers, NOT merely as laborers). This is true of Kung women because they are equal if not primary contributors to the Kung society as key decision-makers, primary food collectors, domestic leaders, child bearers and child caregivers, and equal distributors of the food and goods to the tribe. Also, Kung women lead the household and all domestic activities and they are responsible for teaching their children how to behave, provide for the group, and contribute to their society. It is an important contribution to an egalitarian society to be diverse in skills and in
After Columbus mistakenly discovered the Americas in 1492, European countries were soon setting out to establish themselves in this new world. Spain was first to establish itself in the new world, using their powerful military and their navy. The new colonies were completely dictated by the king of Spain, such one of his policies allowing colonists to use the native tribes for forced labor. France was the second major power to establish itself. Their main focus was fur trapping and fur trading. The French quickly learned to work with the Native Americans. The few French settlers, who did come to America, were focused on fur trapping and trading. Because of this, most French settlements were either military forts or trading posts. England

The most significant physical geographical factor that contributed to the development of the ancient South American society of the Incas was the Andes Mountains. The Inca Empire had villages and cities throughout the Andes Mountains. Some of these settlements were as low as sea level and their capital, Cusco, was at an altitude of 11,200 feet. The Andes are considered some of the longest and highest mountain ranges. In fact it’s tallest peak, Mount Aconcaqua, in Argentina, tops out at 22,841 feet (Zimmermann, 2013). Despite the fact that people were traversing mountains the people flourished creating trails, aqueducts and agricultural practices that still exist today.
I chose to study and analyze J.M.W. Turner’s Slave Ship for this project and found it to be very interesting. Immediately while looking at the piece you get a strong sense of emotion and drama that is being portrayed. There is a lot of depth and warmth in the colors that are used and wide swift brush strokes to create the images. The first image that caught my eye was of waves crashing on the left side of the painting. The white tips of the waves are very noticeable against the softer shades of the ocean. Behind the waves is a ship which is the next part of the painting that drew my attention. The ship seems to be caught in the rough waves of the sea and barely able to keep afloat. There is a glimmer of light from the sun peeking through

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that less than half of American adults get the recommended amount of physical activity, as defined by the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines established by the US Department of Health and Human Services (Centers for Disease Control, 2013). In addition, the American Heart Association reports that the 2011 National Health Interview Survey showed 32% of adults in the United States did not participate in leisure time activity, and only 21% of adults in the United States participate in adequate amounts of both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity (American Heart Association, 2013).
