I took a different approach when surveying two individual at my place of employment. Instead of surveying coworkers, I interviewed two individual that are a patient of the hospital. My place of employment is known for specializing in mental illness known as Georgia Regional Hospital/Atlanta (GRH). The two patient that I interviewed, one is a veteran which received treatment under two different mental hospitals, veteran and ours hospital, while, the other individual just received treatment only GRH mental institution. Georgia Regional Hospital (GRH) is an institution that evaluates, and treating the individual that has a mental disorder, which includes patients that are incarcerated or patients that is diagnosed with a mental disorder. Although, Veteran hospitals provide the same treatment that GRH offers but only to veteran patients.
According to the veteran response, our institution needs to improve on minor factors, regarding, staff and patient interaction, fulfilling meal plans, additional activities or work study for the participate in. The veteran is unaware of the

Patient has no problems on how the hospital operates their services. Patient only received service at GRH and love the way GRH provide services to his illness.

The major issue with the quality of health care is “medical errors result from faulty systems… not individuals” (Hughes). To add to the dilemma, the rising cost of healthcare will not adequately be addressed by any new healthcare system. The costs of healthcare in America are staggering and currently represent over 17% of our national GDP with the expectation of that number rising to 20% in less than 5 years. These costs are direct hits on the revenues received by hospital which affect their ability to remain operational. As the hospital’s revenues and profit margin decrease, so does the expected longevity of the hospital.
Healthcare is a very complicated manipulative system. The way to adjust this system is to initiate modification from all angles, from the bottom to the top. We can take out costs by abridging and regulating so much, especially in the billing and electronic medical record system. We also have to modify operation patterns.

The future and direction of health care has been the topic of discussion amongst politician and U.S citizens today. There are several challenges surrounding the future and strategic direction in which health care should be heading. Accreditation, quality of health care and organization’s compliance; access to health care, maintaining a skilled workforce, information technology and pay for performance are some of the challenges that currently presenting itself in healthcare today. If health care is not dealt with appropriately it will have a significant effect an impact on the strategic direction in the future and direction of care.
