Immediate effects of sexual abuse The immediate effects of sexual abuse can be anything from STD, bruising in the genital area, missing pieces of clothing, bruising marks on the adults body where they have been grabbed. These immediate effects can work because it shows signs of sexual abuse and can help prove they have been abused and its not just in the vulnerable adults head. Immediate effects on sexual abuse may not work though because its very hard to figure out that someone has been sexually abused if their is no immediate effects and a case scenario has to be investigated further it could take longer to figure out if sexual abuse has been happening or its all the vulnerable adults head or the adult could have dementia and dreaming it. Long term effects of sexual abuse on adults The most common immediate effect is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or “PTSD.” Other negative immediate effects may include depression, anxiety, promiscuity, general behavioural problems, poor self-esteem, and disruptive behaviour disorders. Potential long term effects of sexual abuse include depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sexualized dysfunction, and substance abuse, prostitution, low self-esteem, STD’s and flashbacks. Victims of sexual assault suffer from a wide variety of mental and emotional issues throughout their lives as a result of the experience. Results can range from depression, anger, feelings of loneliness, and difficulty when trying to formulate relationships of trust (Hyde 45). Victims experience a wide variety of psychological issues as a result of sexual crimes, which they will have to carry with them throughout their entire lives. Also, “Psychological problems can start later in life with changes in behavior- vague fears, feeling unprotected and helpless, nightmares, bedwetting, sleeping problems, fear to loss parents approval/love, need to please others, poor self esteem, anger, depression, withdrawal from activities, daydreaming, difficulty concentrating, behavior problems” (Hyde 47).

P1: Describe forms of abuse which may be experienced by adults. Provide 5 types of abuse (e.g. Physical, Psychological, Sexual, Financial, Neglect)
Two of the consequences of sexual abuse that interest me the most is posttraumatic stress disorder and repressed memory. PTSD is known as an anxiety disorder that occurs in response to experiencing extreme stress (McCoy & Keen, 2014). The rates of PTSD vary among the type of sexual abuse that has occurred (McCoy & Keen, 2014). Victims of sexual abuse usually have to deal with PTSD. They have flashbacks of the terrible indicants, could happen randomly or be triggered by anything. Since the triggers could happen any time, it could prevent the person from prevent the person from being able to move on, which could stop them from living a successful and happy life. Another consequence of sexual abuse is repressed memory. Repressed memory is when the brain forces unacceptable thoughts, desires or memories into the unconscious (McCoy & Keen, 2014). This is done so the brain can protect itself. It takes a lot of energy for the brain to hide these memories and they can reappear caused by a trigger (McCoy & Keen, 2014). It makes
Victimization comes in many different forms such as assault, child physical/sexual abuse, stalking, theft, rape, sexual harassment, and domestic/relationship violence. There are several negative outcomes that have been linked with childhood abuse and neglect such as neurobiological changes, emotional and psychiatric disorders, interpersonal issues and substance abuse problems (Min, Singer, Minnes, Kim, & Short, 2012). According to Reid and Sullivan (2009), children and adolescents are very vulnerable and are the most highly victimized individuals of the population and the kinds of victimization that they experience can come in many forms (Finkelhor et al., 2009). This victimization is known as poly-victimization (Finkelhor et al., 2009).
Anyone can be sexually abused such as young children, adolescents, or adults. Sexual Abuse can either change an individual or cause them to look at life differently and grow. When traumatic situations and stress happens at an earlier age the more serious and long-lasting the effects will be. Those individuals that shows emotional, psychological, or physical signs in behavior is most definitely affected by Sexual Abuse. All signs and behavior does not apply to all, but some cases that has been previously recorded and examined will be the main focus.
As described in Module 13, there are several theories that could describe the cause of elder abuse. One of the theories describes stress as a leading cause of elder abuse by stating that “stress, frustration and feelings of burden experienced by caregivers who are caring for dependent elders can result in abusive and neglectful treatment” (Loseke, pg. 192). A second theory, argues that dependency from caregivers on victims cause elder abuse and not vice versa or stress. According to Loseke, “abusers were found to be significantly more dependent on the elder,” therefore, the abuse was linked not the victim’s dependency but the abusers’ (Loseke, pg. 2150). As well, researchers failed to “support the notion that the illness and dependency of
