EYFS sets standards for learning development and care for children aged 0-5 years. All schools and Ofsted registered early years providers including child minders, pre-schools and nurseries.
There are 7 areas of learning and development
Children should develop the three prime areas first. These are:
• Personal social and emotional
• Physical development
• Communication and language
These prime areas are those most essential for the child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. These are:
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the world
