Stress is described as a psychological and psychological and physical strain or tension generated by physical, emotional, social, economical or occupation circumstances, events, or experience that are difficult to manage or endure (Andrew M. Colman, 2015). Stress can affect all aspects of your life, which include your emotional, behaviours thinking ability, and psychical health (webmd, 2016). As stress causes arousal and energy, physical activity like going for a run reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke this is due to when you are doing psychical activity your lungs expand, the heart strengthens, the lungs improve there functioning and the circulatory system, it reduces cholesterol and releases endorphins. When the human body is stressed bad chemicals are released and when the body is exercise the body uses these bad chemicals up. Meditation or relaxation is also a striges to prevent and reduce stress. When we these promote parasympathetic NS activity, this means that you are resting and restoring. Yoga and Pilates are very common relaxation techniques. Stress is a term with different meaning but in general it involves change and response. The average person doesn’t like change because it takes them out of their comfort zones. As a result stress can cause mental and physical damage. The American Institute of Stress (pg 3) (www.stress.org) states 43 percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects due to stress. 80 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress-related complaints or disorders. (pg 3) The leading cause of death are caused by “lifestyle diseases,” for people who have a difficult time coping with stress. Researcher Richard Lazarus (pg 5) describes stress as a state of anxiety produced when events and responsibilities exceed one’s coping abilities.

People all over the world stress about something every day. Stress can lead to many dangerous health problems and can strain relationships with other people. People in the United States stress over many of the same issues. I stress about school, work, family issues, and social life.
There is no doubt about it, stress is an epidemic of the 21st century and it 's can easily creep into our lives and grow there if we let it.
Stress is a combination of physical, mental, and emotional feelings that result from pressure, worry, and anxiety. These pressures are called stressors. Some examples of common stressors are, divorce, death in the family, job change, pregnancy, marriage, and retirement. In medicine stress is a physical, chemical, or emotional development that causes strains that lead to physical illness.
For example, stress falls between something that is conflicting a persons mind or even a heavy workload (Dombeck, Mills, Reiss). Stress is very dangerous and should be handled with extreme sensitivity and care. According to Allen Elkin, a psychologist and director of stress management center, “it is impossible to get through life without encountering stress and unfortunately, most people don’t learn the correct ways to cope with it” (Elkin). In the quote he is clear that life with stress is inevitable and it has to be dealt with. If it is not managed it can be hazardous to your mental and physical well-being. If a person becomes to stressed they can become exposed to many bodily and mental changes. For example, stress can cause a change in eating habits, and new coping habits can occur like use of drugs alcohol and smoking (Elkin). Stress can also cause depression that can eventually lead to death by suicide.
There are many ways to reduce or handle stress in your life. The easiest and one of the healthiest antidotes for stress is laughter. Just smiling helps because it releases blood flow to the brain and endorphins are released. (4.) This gives a sense of well being. Some other simple techniques are doing uninterrupted breathing. Another stressor is lack of sleep. Therefore break the stress-sleeplessness cycle. You can help relieve your sleep problem by developing a daily sleep routine and don’t drink alcohol or caffeine before bed. Another thing is to reserve your bedroom for sleeping and sex only. (4.) Writing down your feeling in a diary may help relieve emotional stress. (4.)
