However, if this situation was occurring with my own son, I would try my best to not cause more of a commotion than he already has. Often when I find myself witnessing these tantrums, it is the parent ultimately who prolongs it in their attempt to regain immediate control and composure. When children are at a young age, they are unable to grasp the importance of good behaviour if they are already in a tantrum. I would try to immediate calm him down as best I could in order to remove him from the situation at hand to create a different environment to discipline him further. In this specific situation I would probably be more of a brick wall or authoritative parent as I would completely remove both him and I from the situation at hand in order to regain composure. There are many theories of child development because we have been studying the field for so many years. Each theory has their different factors; biology, sociology, genetics, environment, relationships are just a few of them. “Thank you for making me so wonderful and complex”! (Psalms139:14). When one theory is formulated and used for awhile someone else may come behind that particular theorist and add some new points to expand the theory and then create a new one. Each stage a child passes through are broadly the same, although all children develop differently. If you work with children or children are in your life in the same age group you may become to recognise the similarities in the levels of development. The patterns of children's development will fall into a variety of areas , although many of these may interlink with one another.
The main areas of development consist of physical, social/emotional, and cognitive/academic. Physical development within children consists of changes in body size, proportions, and appearance, functioning of the body systems, perceptual and motor capacities, and physical health. Social/emotional development consists of changes within emotional communication, self-understanding, knowledge about others, interpersonal skills, friendships, interment relationships, and moral reasoning and behavior. Cognitive/academic development consists of changes in the child’s intellectual abilities that include attention, memory, academic and everyday knowledge, problem solving, imagination, creativity, and language.
From the time a baby is born to the time he is growing and developing, the parents should take account of their overall development that is not only related to health or physical development but is also associated with the mental development. Today we see more well- educated women having babies but does not exclude how we also see more teenagers who are raising children with no experience or help. This affects the child because they no able to get the full love and affection they need or they getting too much of it, especially in single family households. There are many different variations of language, language that is seen, such as sign language, body language and written language, then there is the language that is heard, such as people speaking. There are over 7,000 spoken languages in the world alone without taking into consideration nonverbal languages. For adults and children alike, this can be overwhelming because in each language there are different behaviour patterns, different registers, different age groups and what is acceptable in one language may not be considered acceptable in another such as how close is too close to stand to someone else.
