This is an analysis of a taped interview between a nurse and a patient who is taking pre-employment medicals. The information given during the interview, including her name, Pink Cloud is fictitious because of the need of confidentiality. During the interview, objective and subjective data will be collected. In this course, I learned to achieve the holistic health assessment by viewing the patient as a whole. It is important to consider the patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual aspect of their lives, which can greatly affect their overall health. I think the most important is the nurse’s intention to care for each patient as a whole and being present for that patient while they can. This course taught me to look at the other potential factors that may be causing the patient’s sickness such as: other health problems, diet, cultural beliefs, habits, stress and personal problems.

With all of this in mind, the biggest thing I learned is that my interviewing skills have significantly improved since my first practice interview. I no longer stutter as much, I am able to formulate the question in such a way that a client understands. By that same manner, I have lesson the amount of um’s I use in formulating sentences. Unfortunately, since I already had rapport with the person I am unable to asses my skill improvement in this area.
