Creating an Ed Plan is one of the most important things you will do during your semesters at Columbia. I would even say that it is more important than taking the classes. The classes get you your degree, but your Ed Plan tells you what you need to take, when you need to take it and it helps you achieve your academic goals. Because your Ed Plan is so significant, you need to prepare for it. To do so, get a course catalog. The catalog helps you pick which classes you want to take to help you reach your goal, whether it be getting a degree or transferring. The catalog shows when classes are available and how many units the classes are worth and if the classes are transferable. The catalog also shows degree patterns. Planning for the Ed Plan appointment is important, but do not stress too much; ed plans are changeable. All you need to do is think about a major that interests you or a job you might want to have, and make an appointment with a counselor. I …show more content…
Your counselor can help you with this. You can make this appointment, either in person at the desk in Manzanita, or over the phone. At the appointment, you will learn so much; it might be a bit overwhelming, but that is okay. Your counselor will teach you about what classes to take at Columbia, when they are offered and which ones you will need to take at the University of your choice. The counselor will talk about degree patterns, certificates you can work towards, and graduation requirements. Your counselor will help you find sources that will help with discovering majors, job placement, and research tools. Without your Ed Plan appointment, you are set up to waste time and money. If you do not have an ed plan, you have no reason for accountability or to do your best in school. The Ed Plan gives going to school meaning and makes it

The vocational purpose of education refers to the information and abilities students master through their learning experience in schools. In other words, the main goal of this purpose is to prepare literate and economically aware adults. In reference to early elementary school years, skills that students must master are basic addition/subtraction, memorization, learning to read, and basic sentence writing. Mastering these skills are an important piece of the economic educational purpose because in adulthood it often leads to the pursuit of a career and financial independence. Those adults that struggle with basic arithmetic and reading often settle for jobs that simply pay the bills, rarely do they have an opportunity to pursue a career that they love. Without fully grasping these skills, it makes it impossible to understand higher order thinking skills, like analysis and dialectic reasoning. For example, the majority of adults will have to analyze a legal document, apply their knowledge of arithmetic to determine a budget for their family, and be placed in everyday situations where they must think critically. Without the skills, it would be impossible for someone to perform these actions. The vocational purpose of education is to prepare students with the skills that they will need to be successful in life once they reach adulthood.
In healthcare the priority is not only the care and treatment of patients - it is adhering to policy, procedure and workflow processes to ensure the privacy, security and confidentiality of individuals goes beyond care in every capacity. The content of information is sensitive and is the providers and other healthcare workers responsibility to safeguard the information they receive and used to determine diagnosis, treatment plans. Patients want to feel comfortable and trusting with their information especially in the electronic world and how their information is being handled.
Now on to the requirement for the Board of Ed Policy. First let’s focus on the 1st part of the policy that says that the material must, “enrich and support the curriculum”. From my understanding the curriculum is based on the three questions, what is the impact of the legacy of slavery on America?, How has/is justice implemented in America?, How does change happen in this government? The book doesn’t focus on the third question, so I’ll talk about the 1st and 2nd questions. While the book does talk a lot about the fight for Civil Rights, our class, (which may be different than some other classes), doesn’t go that into detail about lynching, except for the Murder of Emmett Till. The book does, however, show the impact of slavery on America

Initially I thought that I had little research experience except for gathering information regarding falls and looking for solutions to prevent them. Then I began thinking about all of the times that I have turned to journal articles when looking for information related to best practices in patient care. I hope to learn to develop a better understanding of the research process and to conduct my own research in courses to come.

To have a plan for success at Columbia College you will have to make an appointment for an educational plan with a counselor, which is the start to a great future. Going into the meeting it is helpful to have an idea of what your plans are for Columbia College as well as future goals. However, if you do not have an idea of what you want to do, the counselor will give you ideas of classes to take for your general education. The typical meeting should take about one hour, and if you have any questions make sure to get them all answered. To start off the education plan meeting, you sit down with your counselor who will ask what you would like to major in or what ideas you have of classes you want to take. For me, my meeting started with a bit

Students often learn best when they can experience the interrelatedness of subjects within their curriculum. This unit about the Food Guide Pyramid is designed to be taught to a class of third grade students through several different disciplines within the school building. The students’ goal is to become familiar with the Food Guide Pyramid and to understand its importance in helping them to eat healthy.
It is about their relationship with the education service they are using - either school or early childhood.
