Clash of the Titans: PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One For generations, Sony’s PlayStation has battled Microsoft’s Xbox for the top spot in the console gaming industry. The current “next gen” consoles are the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox one. Having a PlayStation 4 myself, the PlayStation 4 is, without a doubt, the better console of the two. The two consoles share similarities, but also have differences, in the hardware enclosed within them, their online services, and the games that they offer players. Hardware, the first aspect of comparison, is where the PlayStation 4 has a slight edge. It gains this edge by using the GDDR5 RAM. The Xbox One, on the other hand, uses a DDR3 RAM, which is a model earlier than the GDDR5 RAM. Other than the RAM, both consoles share the same 8-core AMD CPUs, 8GB of memory, 500GB internal hard drives, and Blu-ray optical drives. Their hardware similarities cease at the controllers used by each console. The PlayStation 4’s gamepad is the DualShock 4 (Greenwald). The DualShock 4 feels amazing and comfortable in my hands due to its enhanced, ergonomic design. Sony also made the analog sticks of the DualShock 4 feel smoother and more responsive than they were in the previous versions of the DualShock.
