The newly elected ethics committee for Butterfly Industries is tasked with creating an effective ethics program, led by Chantal (Ferrell, Fraedrich & Ferrell, 2011). Chantal should assess all areas of risk that are currently taking place within Butterfly Industries as well as any potential risks, to ensure they comply with laws and regulations. Subsequently, Chantal should communicate with all international leaders of Butterfly early on to develop a perception of the values as well as to diminish the likelihood of misbehaviors from not understanding. Moreover, the committee will need to establish a written code of conduct that is reasonable. Likewise, clear and precise punishment will be outlined and enforced for violating the code of conduct. Using a values-based compliance program, all executives and employees can work towards developing shared values, both foreign and domestic. An initial new hire and employee ethics training has to be develop and administered. Also on-going ethics refresher training for use throughout the employees career with Company Q will need to be incorporated in the program. Systems will be developed and put in place to monitor, audit, and report ethics violations. A time-line to re-evaluate these programs and their effectiveness towards meeting the companies social responsibility goals will be established. Based on the evaluation a revision or revamp of the program if necessary will be initiated. The ethics program needs to be reviewed and understood by all employees and expectation for compliance very clear. This can be accomplish by tying compliance in some form to employees and leadership individual performance goals. Shareholders all the way down to entry-level employees will benefit from the ethics program which will also put the company on track to being more socially responsible. The business ethics programs I believe will convey our company values, these are often stated in a code of conduct, where employees will have to follow and understand policies to guide decisions and behavior. This recommendation I am giving will require employees at INDE to participate in extensive training as as well evaluating situations where ethical dilemmas can arise and lead to crisis such as the one we are facing currently. These steps in chapter eight would help Chantel to develop objectives and processes need for a strong codes of conduct and compliance programs. These objectives and processes could be used to determine a mission statement that outlines butterfly industries values and culture, which will be reflected within the codes of values. These objectives and processes would give Chantel a clear outline of ethics benefits or a method of adjustment to the codes of conducts if the benefits do not react desirable levels of conduct. The same methodology could be used to develop a compliance programs with chapter eight’s steps and benefits of a compliance programs. That gives a clear compliance functions and benefits, which allows Chantel to set a clear guideline
