The Call of the Wild is a book that was made by an author called Jack London. The Call of the Wild is a Nonfiction book, meaning it did not happen in real life, that is about a dog named Buck going through treacherous landscapes just to get a bunch of different people to Alaska, so they can go gold panning. The main reason why people call this story a classic is because it is a story that people remember for a long time. These kinds of books are most of the time passed down from generation to generation which is what usually gives books the name classic. This book also inspires other people to write books that are very similar to it; an example of this is Lassie Come-Home.

There were many similarities and differences over the book and DVD. Lots of them were full of shocking surprises and twists. The Call of the Wild is mostly about a dog named Buck that goes on a journey through the wilderness. He faces great dangers along the way. He is also traded back and forth thru multiple people.

In this essay I am going to talk about The Call of the Wild. The essay is going to describe how the book and the movie are different. So the Call of the Wild is a story about a dog named Buck. Buck is the main character in the story.He gets turned into a sled dog because people come and steal Buck from his owner Judge Miller and his family.

In the book “Call of the Wild” symbolism can be shown in many emotional, and characterized ways. The book evokes emotions from different characters in different ways described throughout Jack London's “Call of the Wild” and also establishes the mood between the characters. The book strengthens the story by reinforcing characterization of an existing feeling throughout the characters point of view about their surroundings. Jack London helps convey/propel the theme by listing different thoughts through the characters personality or what will happen next. Symbolism is used when the characters are facing emotional, or thoughtful times during the book.

The main themes of “The Call of the Wild” is adaptations and survival for the fittest (natural selection). Thorne uses this book to express his support for these two biological theories. In the book, the protagonist Buck, a domestic dog (pet), is taken away from the comforts of the wealthy human home, a judge's home, to the harsh outdoor conditions of the cold north. There, Buck life changes completely. Firstly, Buck suffers starvation during his transportation to the north. Buck, had never experienced this before. At the judge’s home, he used to have sufficient regular prepared

In the entertaining, personal narrative novel, The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, a spoiled dog named Buck from a wealthy family is kidnapped and used as a sled dog by many teams as he journeys across Alaska. His wolf-like instincts present themselves. Buck a dynamic character in this novel. In the beginning of the novel when Buck lived with Judge Miller he was a “ruler of his domain,” and was relied on by his people to protect them. During the middle of the story, Buck had to fight many other dogs on his way to the top.

The story line set during the Yukon Klondike Gold Rush, at this people are searching for big and strong dogs like Buck. In the Call of Wild Buck goes through a lot of changes. He goes from being a domestic dog who is fed and taken care of to becoming a dog of the wild who has to adapt and learn how to survive.He was so used to being in charge where he was that he expect to be in charge at all time.He soon realizes when he gets to camp that all changes.

In the beginning, Buck is confronted by life or deaths situations. First, Buck learns the Law of Fang. For example, Buck witnesses the sudden death of Curly after she loses a fight with a husky. Since he learns the Law of Fang, he now knows there is no fair play. Second, Buck will do whatever is needed to survive. For example, he steals food from Perrault. Since he is such a big dog, he needs a lot of food to live. Last, Buck is not afraid to get in a fight. For example, he and Spitz get in a fight because they hate each other. Since they got in a fight, Buck wins and the other dogs end up killing Spitz because of the Law of Fang. In conclusion, these are the reasons how Buck handles life and death situations.

What is the same and what is different about the “Call of the Wild” movie and book? Well for starters I didn’t see that much of the movie. I shall try my best though.

The central idea in the Call of the Wild is how you treat a dog/animal can show your true personality because the personality of all of Buck's owners reflect the way Buck is treated.

In my honors language arts class, we are reading the novella, The Call of The Wild. To be honest, The Call of The Wild,was probably not my favorite book I have ever read, but it was still entertaining and exciting. It was about a dog, Buck, that was taken from is home to be sold as a sled dog, in Alaska, during the Klondike Gold Rush. Also, about Buck meeting new people and concurring struggles he had never faced before. Chapter 1, consist of Buck being taken from his home and sold to a complete strangers.

While the humans treatment of animals varies from owner to owner the personal traits of each correspond with the incidents that occur and overall develop a theme. In The Call of the Wild, the author Jack London teaches us that one of the themes of the novel is humans believe that the animals are there to service their needs. Companionship, work, and profit all benefit the owners needs and show the great love, hard work, and financial benefit that they receive. Bucks great companionship and loyalty towards many of his owners reveals a central theme and an overall idea. Buck complied only with Thornton and this made their relationship trustworthy and loyal.

Hal’s theory, which he made practised on others, was that one must get hardened. He had started out preaching it to his sister and brother-in-law. Failing there, he hammered it into the dogs with a club” (63). This shows just how cruel they were to their animals, they would beat them without good reason and continued to blame the animals for the reason that they are not

Over the span of this summer I read The Call of the Wild by Jack London. The protagonist or “main” character is Buck; Buck is also a round character he is a round character because he complex and undergoes development. Buck is a dog; he is part St. Bernard, and another part Scotch shepherd. Buck’s “rival” is Spitz. Spitz is the antagonist in this story.

Buck, the main character in Jack London’s novel Call of the Wild undergoes drastic change from living in his cozy house in California to trudging the cold and dreary lands of the Klondike. London’s novel describes the life of Buck, a simple housedog who is used as a bet and is then brought to an unfamiliar territory, and an unfamiliar lifestyle. Buck becomes a sled dog, learning as he goes. His life is vastly different from what it was once, and he has to adapt and evolve to his new routine. Along the way, Buck endures new challenges such as his struggle for leadership, his willingness to relinquish power to his owner, and internal struggle of wanting to be both wild and civilized. In Jack London’s novel, Call of the Wild, main character Buck evolves from a domesticated pet, into a wild, power-hungry wildebeest.
