A) DEFINITION A case method is a documented study of a situation that transpires in real life or it can be about a fictional situation, which is used as teaching or learning tool in business schools and firms. These studies allow students evaluate cases and provide their own interpretations on potential solutions for the provided business scenario. Furthermore, the case method can also be described as something that gives you a detailed explanation of a company, industry, person, or project over a given period of time. D) PREPARATION In order to be well prepared for a case study presentation, it is crucial to familiarize with the case and its context individually. To fully understand the case, it must be read several times while emphasizing different key elements. Taking notes while reading the case can also increase productivity, which would make the preparation process more efficient. By reading the case several times and taking notes, students will get a full understanding on the problems discussed in the case as well as the people or key players involved in the case. It is also important to research the company for which you are presenting the case for, which would allow you to back up your presentation with facts and realistic action plans. Use of visual tools during the preparation, such as graphs and charts, will also help get ideas across more efficiently to the audience. Lastly, it is important to focus on the objective and goal of the company in order to come up with an action plan, which can be implemented to attain the company's objectives.

A case study is an intensive type of research that involves a process in which detailed information is collected
A case study is “a method of analysis and a specific research design for examining a problem” (University of Southern California, 2010). It can be used to analyze a person, place, event, or other subjects in order to help discover mitigating issues, misconceptions, failures, trends, or recommendations (USC, 2010). Case studies will be used to gain a better understanding of situations and topics to help others make better policies, procedures, and decisions (USC, 2010).
A case study is a puzzle that has to be solved. The first thing to remember about writing a case study is that the case should have a problem for the readers to solve. The case should have enough information in it that readers can understand what the problem is and, after thinking about it and analyzing the information; the readers should be able to come up with a proposed solution. Writing an interesting case study is a bit like writing a detective story. You want to keep your readers very interested in the situation.

An in-depth study of a particular situation rather than a sweeping statistical survey. Case study research is a method that was used to narrow down a very broad field of research into one easily researchable topic.
Case studies are one of the first types of research to be used in the qualitative methodology and repeating the study several times will lead to the increased reliability of the study (Starman, 2013). This methodology is appropriate because it will allow for data collection results to be generalized based on the theoretical propositions and not the population (Harrison et al. 2017).
Therefore rational for the use of case formulation is that it improves practice by linking theory, research and

Case presentations can also act as a good reference point for if you come across a patient in a similar situation. They provide experimental learning and also help to stimulate learning by reading the case study and evaluating the outcome. It helps to dissect whether, if the situation would repeat itself in the same way, the same or similar outcome would occur in a different patient. They can help to ensure continued development of new ideas of treatment and management protocols.
I have been a student at University of Melbourne for 4 semesters, and over the commerce course of my study I have developed and grown more than I thought possible. Business Case Analysis has not only given me great experience, but also helped me boost my skills and knowledge through the semester through interactive learning and teamwork. In this course, I have learned how to approach a problem, particularly in business sector, while also professionally maintaining collaborative work in teams. In the tyro stages of this case project our group had no idea into what company we were going to research. We thought of doing the case on the failure of Lehman Brothers however, after lengthy discussions with Dr.Simon we opted not to go for it as it was too bigger firm to analyse for this particular project. We brainstormed for minutes, hours and days and we still couldn’t come up with a practical organization to analyse. After thorough discussions and outside the box thinking we started to come up with intelligent realistic suggestions. The rules for the case stated that you must have someone within the company or entity to give you information in order to facilitate our learning. The rules did not explicitly say we had to know someone prior to starting this creative project therefore we exhausted all of our resources and used it to our advantage.
The term ``case method ' ' has come to refer to a wide range of teaching styles and objectives that can be adopted within the use of case studies for teaching (Dooley and Skinner, 1977). It has been proposed that the case method can be used to: . gain illustration of particular points, issues or managerial principles; . provide managers with a neutral situation in which they are free to explore problems (because they are not their own); . relate theory to practice; . confront the complexities of specific situations; . develop analysis and synthesis; . develop self-analysis, attitudes, confidence, responsibility; . develop interpersonal skills, communication and listening; and . develop judgement and wisdom and enliven teaching. The method may gain the student 's intellectual and emotional involvement and assist the long-term retention of understanding and bring realism into instructional settings (Romm and Mahler, 1991; Osigweh, 1989; Smith, 1987; Christensen and Hansen, 1987; Dooley and Skinner, 1977). The case method is not without its limitations. Cases may be limited in the extent to which they present the realities of an organization. Yin (1989) comments that a case need not reflect a complete or accurate rendition of actual events; its purpose is to establish a framework for discussion among students.
