On 02/11/2017 I was Dispatched to Smith Springs Elementary School for an investigation. A student Cire Kistner, was reported as being visibly distraught upon her arrival at school. In 1980, at Piscataway Township High School, 14-year-old T.L.O. and a peer were caught smoking cigarettes in a school restroom which violated school rules. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the importance of giving positive alternatives to the youth of America. We’ll talk about the roots of the “Boys and Girls Club of America” and the successful tactics used to promote positive outlook and guide kids onto the successful path. I will include the aim of the organization and discuss whether or not I witnessed it actually taking place. Because I volunteered towards the end of the summer, there were more recreational activities than actual classes so I learned a lot about how to properly and swiftly solve an issue between students and how to deal with stubborn and disrespectful children of all ages. I’ll talk about my interactions with specific children and staff members; names will
The mission for the YMCA for youth is “Nurturing the potential of every child and teen”. Staff are taught that we must follow the mission statement to the fullest to insure that children will be able to fulfill their potentials. Also was said that many children, and teens do not have the resources to reach their potential so that is where the YMCA, and staff comes in. The YMCA tries to keep their mission alive by providing different classes, resources, and values to help youth. The are various programs, and services we provide for children and youth. Starting with childcare, camp, healthy food, education, sports, homework club, after school programs, classes, and many more. The YMCA is a non profit meaning it is goal is not making money, and makes most of their funds by fundraising, and membership cost. Although, the YMCA does not turn away anyone just because they do not have the funds to buy a membership. The YMCA provides aid for anyone that needs it, and welcomes them with open arms. Other ways the YMCA obtains money to keep their gym running is special events, and some programs that may have a fee.The YMCA main goal starting out was keeping young men out of trouble, and getting them the resources to find a job. That still lives on today, along with promoting healthy living. The YMCA hires people that fit under the safety guidelines for youth, and the same for volunteers. Every worker and volunteer must be able to pass a national finger print, and go through trainings
Indeed, as with previous iterations of guidance, the legal policies of investigative practice can be difficult to implement outside of the formal judicial system: a lack of proper evidentiary handling and a fundamental misunderstanding of the process whereby facts are determined can prove impediments to a fair and impartial investigation. Moreover, the hearing process itself and the limitations imposed on the ability of both the Complainant and the Respondent to directly question and cross-examine one another make it difficult for an institution to adhere to the fundamental due process rights implied in the Letter under certain conditions: “Public and state-supported schools must provide due process to the alleged perpetrator.” Herein, another difficulty arises with respect to the ambiguity
