Screen time limits for children and letting go of the fear of screen time for kids has been a dicussion for quite some time now. All parents, I believe, have argued over which is best; Massive amounts of screen time is bad for your children and the use of screen time is good for your child/children. In some cases, screen time limit for kids can be the best choice. According to the passage experts have long known that TV watching is not good for children. There are many ways to have access to screen time now with all the televisions, personal DVD players. cell phones and tablets around. In the articale about screen time limits states that between 2011 and 2013, children ages 8 and under more than doubled the use of media devices with …show more content…
Despite the long-standing guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics kids 2 years and older should be limited to 1 to 2 hours a day and those that the 2 years and younger shouldnt have any screen time at all. Screen time takes mental and physical toll on kids. In the article it says that a scientific journal article stated light from screens also fractures viewers' attention and mental energy. It also states that for the first time in fifty years, researchers are seeing a significant decrease in kids' creativity. Now, in the arugment of less or more screen time for children, the articale about letting go of screen time fears has it's pros and cons as well. Some studies show watching too much TV causes lower test scores, obesity in children and weak executive functions. In the passage it says that these studies are flawed. Kids who watch more TV often share other demographic factors in common that also have been proved to be connected to similar concerns. Critics often push the agurment of "screen time versus green time". The agurment has to do with the blame for children not playing outside, which TV and video games. But this argument over looks the factors such as child supervision, safety, and access to outdoor green
It is safe to say, screen times for children should be limited. Being a home body is no fun, when there is a the world waiting for you just outside the
Does your child have a limit on screen time for each day? If so, your child really doesn’t need a limit on screen time. Isn’t that crazy? However, it is true. But, spending all day on a device is not the greatest for you.
Screen time cuases alot of issues. Many issues can be physical and metnal. Both mental and physical takes a toll on kids. Why? Because according to a scientific journal artical, the light
In conclusion I believe too much screen time for children is negative. Too much screen time can lead to low social interaction skills, childhood obesity, and teaches children violance is okay. Children should be limited on their screen
Research has revealed that majority of Australian children are getting more than the recommended amount of screen time. A decade long study tracked 4000 pre-schoolers throughout their growth the teenagers. Genevieve Alison published the article ‘Most Australian children spend too much time glued to screens, research reveals’ in the Herald Sun on the 20th September 2016. Alison argues that Australian children spend too much time glued to screens. She expresses a logical and rational tone which swings to a more sophisticated and calm tone later in the article. These tones position the reader to keep reading as it is very informative and has evidence to back her claims. Using persuasive techniques, Alison explains and suggests that screen time
Upon hearing the first argument that children should not be allowed so much screen time, I could not help but agree; however the second agrument that there is no such thing as too much screen time does in fact make excellent points. I do however agree more with the first agrument than the second for several reasons, including personal experience, and personal opinions. In this essay I will attempt to find a common ground between the two agruments in an effort to bring peace to this long standing debate.
Do you think kids should be limited on screen time? Well, kids invest almost four hours daily watching TV and playing video games. Kids could be getting exercise for four more hours. Another reason is kids should get fresh air. In fact fresh air is better for you than the air you breathe indoors. Also, TV and video games are a waste of time. Many kids don't get their homework done for class, but they have time to play video games and waste their time. Two to five year olds should have no more than one hour of electronic time daily. Anymore than that can damage their eyes at a young age. Kids in the range of five to eighteen shouldn’t be on electronics for more than two hours daily. Children in this age range should socialize and actually talk
In today's society screen time is vital for our childrens' learning and socialisation with others. Children no longer have the trobules of traveling to different cultures; of areas to explore beliefs. They have the world wide web to guide them and give them weather forcast, economic changes, updates about what is going on in the world. Television gives children history education. On some channels helps teach things that is needed in the kindrgarten. Without lap tops most children have fear of rejection interacting with others and with lap tops they are better in communication with others that they were affraid wouldn't accept them. It is in my great opinion that screen time is vital for children. Some studies show watching too much TV leads
After reading both passages I have to say i agree with, "Screen Time Limits Are Vital for Children." I choose the side of this passage becasue i think it is true that technology is taking over rapidly. The attention spands of young children these days is controlled by screens of technology devices. I see it in my own relatives as well, for instance my younger cousin that is in second grade. My cousin has a iphone and she is always on it as much as she can be unless at school. This i think is not good for herself and other young youth's future ahead. As said in the passage, "Studies report that television viewing by preschoolers lowers their executive funtions such as the ability to complete a given task." If this continues on ahead children
Articles from parenting magazines have started wondering and contrasting views on whether or not that their children should be limited on how much "screen time" they should be allowed to have. I'd have to say that I agree with the writer of the passage, "Screen Time Limits Are Vital for Children."
Now of days all the little kids want to do is grab a phone or a tablet . Kids these days are getting an average of 7.5 hours of tv per day. Between 2011 and 2013 , children ages 8 and under doubled their useages of media devices. Younger children should be only allowed to watch 1-2 hours if that .
Children should limit their time on media screens, for example in passage 1, it says children in the united states have an average of 7.5 hours of screen time per day. I understand that electronics such as ipads, cell phones or computers are entertaining, but as young children should'nt surround their themselves around that much screen time, they are basically throwing all of their youth away. My opinion kids need to be kids, and play outside with their friends, interact, and play with their toys.
One thing that screen time can cause is harmful things to your body. One thing is that when you spend a hour of screen time your eyes become very dry. Another thing is that studies say that screen time can change the function of the brain. Also your kids might become very violent because of some of their harming games that have guns and people killing people.
My own position on the issue of whether or not childeren should be restricted from spending time in front of media screens. What i really think is that childeren should be restricted for spending to much time in front or on media screens. The reason being is becasue (paragragh 4") it say in this text that in many of the studies report that television viewing by preschoolers lowers thier executive functionssuch as the ability to complete a given task. It also leads to lower test scores later in school an it aslo says that for the first time its seein a decrease in the kids creativity. Also, to me i think that these kids don't have to be completly but they shouldn't spend almost all there time on it. this is why i do agree with the fact of keeping
With all of these studies, it can be difficult to make a decishion on screen time and what's best for our children. We all as perents only want the best for our children. Because of all the information it is difficult to say if it is the screen time is the factor that causes these negitive effects, or maybe there were other factors.
