Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) President George H. W Bush signed the American with Disability Act (ADA) of 1990 into law on the 26th July of the same year. The law seeks to protect people with a disability from discrimination during job placement, employment opportunities, accommodation, and transportation. The law also grants people with a disability the rights to participate in political, social, and governmental services, and the right to purchase goods and services (ADA, 2008). It grants them the right to purchase goods and services, obtain telecommunication devices, and participate in political and social activities. For example, according to title 47, the law grants rights for people with a disability to access methods of communication such as telegraph, telephone, radio, cell phones, and other means of communication (ADA, 2008). Section 12182 of the Act prohibits any discrimination based on accommodation procedures. The law grants people with a disability the rights to own homes, rent houses, and take mortgages for any accommodation that they deem suitable for them. Similarly, section 12111 protects the people with a disability from any discrimination in employment and job placement opportunities. The law requires employers to accord people with a disability the same opportunities as those given to other people in the country. The law requires that no one should discriminate any person based on their disabilities. My organization should use this provision to employ more people with a disability. They should award some of the vacant positions to people with a disability to enable these people to earn a decent living since many of them are better educated than the rest of the population (US Department of Labour, 2008). On the same note, the company should rely on the law to employ many people to demonstrate its loyalty and adherence to the law. Employing people with a disability will give the firm an upper hand as a peoples’ company that does not discriminate along disability lines. For those few disabled people already working in the firm, the company must ensure that they come up with effective working conditions to ensure that they perform their duties
The Americans with Disabilities Act provides civil rights to those who are disabled. The ADA guarantees equal opportunity to those individuals who are disabled in the work force and with the state and local government. The ADA will ensure that people with disabilities are not discriminated against when it comes to hiring, firing and advancements. The employer must provide certain accommodations for those with disabilities, but only if it does not cause them undue hardship.

The Americans with Incapacities Act (ADA) got to be law in 1990. The ADA is a social equality law that forbids oppression people with handicaps in every aspect of open life, including employments, schools, transportation, and all open and private places that are interested in the overall population. The motivation behind the law is to ensure that individuals with handicaps have the same rights and open doors as other people. Before starting this class and especially the research paper, I knew very little about the ADA. During the period of research and writing the paper I hope to obtain a better grasp on the ADA in general. But I also hope to learn some things that my current place of employment can improve our standards when it comes to those with disabilities. One of the current social policies in place that protect the rights of the Deaf and hearing impaired is the Americans with Disabilities Act. (The Americans with Disabilities Act, 1990 ) The ADA is a body of laws and policies that bans discrimination against those with disabilities. This includes the deaf and hearing impaired population. The ADA has four sections that cover: employment, public accommodations, government and telecommunications. In order to be compliant with the ADA, employers are compelled to inquire about the types of accommodation needs the deaf employee has so that they may work alongside others with the least amount of distractions or interruptions.
When the law was signed, new doors opened for the deaf and hard of hearing culture for a better opportunity in gaining equal rights. President Bush appointed four titles to protect deaf and hard of hearing people. In “The ADA and Deaf Culture” by Tucker, B. Title I, prohibits both public and private employers from refusing to hire or promote an individual because of his or her impairment and requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for applicants or employees who are deaf or hard of hearing (Tucker 28). If a deaf or hard of hearing employee can pass the essential part of the job qualification, he or she is protected by the ADA to be hired. Also, the ADA prohibits employers to discriminate disabled people in means of recruitment, job applications procedures, pay rates, and promotions.
