Introduction
To begin my research I had to decide on a topic. Using a lotus diagram, I came up with 9 possible enquiry areas of interest to me and narrowed this down to one by deciding which worked best and interested me most. I decided on researching left-handedness. I then had to decide on a topic within the area and influenced by my love of science I landed on my research question: ‘In what ways, physically and psychologically are right-handers different to left-handers and what causes this?’
Research Processes
After deciding on a topic I brainstormed ideas for primary and secondary sources. An obvious choice for secondary sources was the internet. There were many articles explaining left-handedness, providing theories for its occurrence and outlining differences present between left-handers and right-handers. I narrowed my search to articles directly relevant to my topic. I wanted other secondary sources (so I went onto the SA library website, where I searched for books relevant to my research question) and found 2 books that became very valuable resources: Right Hand, Left Hand by Chris McManus, a Professor of Psychology, specialising in handedness and A left hand turn around the world, by David Wolman which explained his journey to discover all he could about left-handedness. These resources provided me with diverse knowledge about the causes and history of left-handedness. Right Hand, Left Hand was especially valuable as it introduced me to Random Cerebral
Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of

interested in and wanted to study for my project. Although it was easy for me to choose a topic, I still had factors that helped me to decide on the Foster Care System. For example, past projects, who I am as a person, and personal experience has helped me to finalize my research project.
According to Depoy and Gittin, research is a way individuals think about problems in systematic way. Research is generally described as description, exploration, analysis, prediction and problem solving. There are different types of research and these researches are called the experiments, quasi-experiments and non-experiments. The purpose of research is to provide the insight to practice, it also enhance individuals understanding as well as developing new approaches with different topics, get to test your research for effectiveness. Understanding research is important because it helps to build individuals knowledge bases and informs decision making in practice. Research also enable us to make sure that our practice are up to date with relevant information.
How would you feel if you broke your arm and you didn't have access to a doctor? It wouldn't be fun would it? Now pretend that broken arm is depression and the doctor is actually a psychologist. Having access to a doctor who treats mental illness is just as important as having access to a doctor who would treat a broken arm. Access to mental health care needs to increase to reduce the effects of untreated mental illness.
Before joining my Masters in Business administration, I have done few researches at my working places, not knowing that there are some many methods, approaches, etc. Thanks to Dr. Stephen Sommerville, for teaching me to do research in the professional way. Let my first research be the critical review of my own positionality i.e. who am I to me and in the others point of view? Does my positionality affect the research works I took or will take?
My research topic is Hmong parents have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities. My hypothesis is do Hmong children with disabilities receive lower expectation from their parents than his or her siblings without disabilities in terms of education or in life? My theory is that Hmong parents have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities through various research studies available. From the research studies that I found, Hmong parents do have lower expectation for their children with disabilities compared to children without disabilities. Specifically educational goal, some parents reported to have no educational goal for their children
The topic I chose to inquire about for my project was poverty in America. For the project I researched many different topics to find the one that I connected with enough to write about and come up with an inquiry. I found the topic of poverty in America interesting and it was something that I could relate to in certain ways. At first I wanted to expand on this topic and incorporate world poverty but that was to general. Also there was too much information and differing ideas on my question when applying it to world poverty. Thus, I decided to just stick with poverty in America. I already had a lot of knowledge on this subject and it was something that could be tied in with material from class. While listening to Professor Fitzgerald’s lectures
The best source to begin your search would be in my opinion scholarly searches: scholarly search include publications such as certain books and scholarly journals. Scholarly Journals are collections or articles written by scholars or academics in a field of study or by someone whom has done research in a particular field. These searches have been proven to have actual studied facts that may be used as a credible source. There is another search you can used when gathering information for assignments that is called doing a popular search. A popular search could include any research that are not scholarly, which could included but are not limited to magazines, newspaper, some website and even professional blogs. They are written by journalist or other professional in the field of study you are searching. The normally cover topic of general interest intended to inform and even entertain the general public. Popular Journals can be tricky due to the fact that you really have to be certain about your search, seeing as though popular search involve the internet and in the day and age we are in now anyone is allowed to post on the internet so the source might not be

I conducted my research by first thinking of what I wanted my topic to be on. I didn’t want it to be a topic that is common because I want my project to be something unique, not something
The research I have conducted explains the way I grow and think as a human being. It will give reason to my nonsocial habits and my tendencies to focus in on problems. This research not only gives understanding to the basic of my personality traits but it demonstrated my strengths and weaknesses as well. INTPs are very logical people and can do great things. As thinkers INTPs look at wide variety of outcomes in a situation. Clarity is essential to how situations are handled. My research gave a look on how I perceive the world. My ideas sometime don’t fit into reality. Perception,
Most of the research which I will gathered is web based; including some first hand research that I will conduct, most likely a survey. I felt that the Internet was the best place to gather different views as I will have a better understanding of my subject matter. This will allow me to get together a lot of research from various sources in a short space of time, as it will enable me to find similarities and differences between all the sources very easily. I feel that the question I have picked will give me a very large insight into how the opinions of the origins of maths have evolved over time, with developments into certain theories and some being totally disregarded by
Research is a form of systematic inquiry. It sets out to answer questions through assessing, summarizing and drawing conclusions from what are often very large amounts of information.
