The policies and procedures within my placement school relevant to promoting children’s and young people’s positive behaviour cover a range of six sectors these are • Behaviour policy/Home school agreements • Code of conduct/Golden Rules • Rewards and sanctions • Dealing with conflict and inappropriate behaviour • Anti-Bullying • Attendance Behaviour policy Is a guideline to all staff on how pupils behaviour should be managed. The child gets a certificate and a sticker infront of their peers. Dealing with conflict and inappropriate behaviour The schools policy for behaviour will give information on how you should manage more difficult behaviour as a teacher or TA. It is also important that pupils understand the behaviour policy of the school so that they have a clear idea of how bad behaviour will be dealt with if they choose to go against school rule or behave in an inappropriate manner. Anti-bullying My placement school has a separate anti-bullying policy but bullying is also built in to the behaviour policy for the whole school. It covers all forms of bullying including cyber bullying. Anti bullying is promoted for all pupils within the SEAL project, the golden rules and the home school agreements. Attendance My schools attendance policy sets out how the school manages issues around attendance. Q1) the policies and procedures for positive behaviour is to promote positive behaviour in a good way to reward the child by praise or to reward with something like a sticker. We also have codes of conduct which includes respect so we need to respect the children and listen to them. Calm is one so stay calm and try not get agitated. at my setting in our police it is very important to be a good role model to the children and to show them how we act at nursery and to other children so we have to be very polite and friendly to other people never argue in front of the children never swear in front of the children always be happy and clam towards the children and colleagues around them.

Behaviour policy- The behaviour policy goes over topics like how to treat others, how you should act in the premises, how you should talk to others and how you should do something when you have been told to do it etc. The policy also goes over rules and consequence’s if the rules are not followed. It goes over how they use positive behaviour support when a child has done well. It explains responsibilities, the curriculum, the values and how rules are reinforced to the children.
Regardless of age, we all like to be noticed and praised for something good that we have done. Research has shown that in order to balance out a negative, we need to be given 6 positives. It is important therefore, to recognise and reward positive behaviour, especially for those pupils who perhaps need to be reprimanded more than others. Whilst it can be easier to simply react to the negative aspects of a child’s behaviour with “don’t do this, don’t do that”, it is also really important to point out what they are doing well, whether it’s sitting nicely, listening well, joining in, following instructions, etc. It is also important not to forget those children who always behave appropriately and openly praise them too. In establishing school policy, contextual features of the school need to be taken into account eg pupils, parent/guardians, and school community and school staff, so as to promote the needs of the school. Parents, staff and pupils should have an in depth understanding of the school policy, the parameters of acceptable behaviour and its implications for teaching and learning in the school. Welcome parents and student to Franklin County Elementary. Our superintendent of education has recently decided to implement a school wide positive behavior support. This approach to discipline includes school-wide, targeted, and individualized strategies for achieving social and learning outcomes while preventing problem behavior with all students. It involves modifying our processes and procedures to help decrease problem behaviors. You will see that we have added reminders throughout the school (in the classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, bathrooms, etc.) as a friendly reminder of the rules to encourage good behavior. Our goal is to get more remarks for positive behavior than incident reports for negative behavior every week. The remainder of this paper will outline our School Wide Positive Behavior Support, explaining behavior expectations, rewards, error correction procedures, and data collection procedures.
