PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY CRITIQUE GRAPHIC ORGANIZER 2 Psychological Theory Critique Graphic Organizer Table 1 Psychological Theory Critique Graphic Organizer Critique John Watson Theory Carl Jung Theory Theories Chosen Watson was referred to as the father of behaviorism and was best known for his “Little Albert” experiment. His beliefs were that human behavior should be the focus instead of things like thoughts and feelings(DeCooman, 2023). Jung was best known for his system of thought. He believed that a human experience should not only be respected but included rather than just the negative qualities of that person(The Society of Analytical Psychology [The SAP], n.d.). Peer Reviewed Research Study In Watson’s theory he felt that the physical response of a person would tell more about internal, external and outward behaviors. His “Little Albert” experiment was to explore emotional learning by conditioning with fear. He would introduce a white rat to which there was no fear, but combined with a loud noise, he got fear. In the peer reviewed research study they research the influence of mass media on health behavior. Which basically shows how the mass media can classical condition people to have better health behaviors though three models: the knowledge- belief-action model, the health beliefmodel, and the health behavior change stage model. The knowledge- belief-action model is simple in theory but just because people have the knowledge that they need to be healthier and maybe they even have the belief that they can do it there may not be to make them get up and take action to make themselves healthier. The health belief model is the theory that strong health beliefs can lead that person or persons to behavioral changes. “The model uses two psychological concepts, the stimulus- response model and cognitive theory(Li, 2023).” By being made Jung stated that personality was based on four pairs of opposing types one of them being extroversion and introversion. His statement was that introverts preferred the comforts of their own world whiled extroverts preferred the comforts of the outside world. He felt that extroverts viewed in the objective while introverts viewed in the subjective. His theory served as the foundations for the MBTI Myers-Briggs Type Indicator which will tell you the degree of your introversion versus extroversion, thinking versus feeling, intuition versus sensation, and judging versus perceiving. The article confirms Jung’s thoughts about introversion and extroversion but introduces ambiverts which is a mixture of the two. Ambiverts are not widely discussed but are mentioned which is what the article goes on to search out, the genecology of the ambivert it was first mention in 1923 by psychologist Edmund Conklin whom was proposing that ambiversion fit well in the narrative of psychology stating that Freud and Jung morbidly and pathologically focused on introversion leading to various ailments and stating that extroversion

The health behavior change stage model was created by American psychologist James Prochaska. He states that change happens in 5 main stages; pre-intentional stage increase awareness and promote demand, the intentional stage encourage effects of the behavior change promote explanations of positive effects, the preparation stage helps identify and overcome difficulties and barriers to behavior change; the action stage reinforces facilitators, seeks social supports and stimulates self efficiency, and the maintenance stage examines follow up support, emphasizes intrinsic self motivations, explore strategies to prevent relapse(Li, 2023). As with the rat there was no action but with the added loud noise you got fear. To get a behavior change you need a motivator and sometimes that motivator is fear sometimes it is not. was normal. In 1927 his works were displayed in Kimball Young’s edited book Source Book for Social Psychology. By the 1930’s it became sparse again an all that was failure was introvert and extrovert. From the 1930’s to the 1940’s it made its way into other books and found its way into a general text After All It’s Up to You: Camp-fire Chats on Leadership that was written by an associate professor of Business Administration as the University of Arkansas. The concept continued to find it way into the psychology world and today is more widely known as it should be as there is almost always and in between(Davidson, 2017). Personal Perspectives I both agree and disagree with this theory. While I think John has an excellent theory because behavior psychology is important, I don’t agree with the “Little Albert” experiment. Maybe it was because he was so detached from his own children or because he did not have a father figure, but he did not need to conduct that experiment the way that he did(Arkansas PBS, 1998). I understand that he had a belief that children should be treated as little adults, I feel the same in some ways. I never lie to my child, and we always had an open- speaking home, but we also show love and affection in our home. Had he been raised doing both maybe he I agree with Carl’s introvert and extrovert theory in that I believe that there are different tyles of people because it is evident. I do not agree with the fact that one is more normal than the other and I don't agree with them have to be a black ot white choice he should have left room for a gray area because there is always a gray area. People are different if we were all alike then this would be a very boring world and there is a good chance nothing would every get done. But just because there are labels such as introvert, extrovert, and ambivert does not mean that one is better than the other not even when it comes to ambivert just because
