1 Practicing Digital Fluency LaPasha Campbell The University of Arizona Global Campus GEN102: Digital Literacy for Life & the Workplace Instructor Mallory DeMay March 14,2024
2 Introduction After careful consideration, I've chosen the General scenario as the focus of my final paper. This decision stems from its relevance to my present circumstances. While I may not be in my ultimate course, I can offer valuable insights and share my experiences at the University of Arizona Global Campus. Practicing Technical Proficiency I've utilized Google Slides as my platform of choice to ensure I provide all necessary context for this scenario. Google Slides offers a seamless way to present information, which is ideal for incoming students seeking insights, tips, and advice about the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). With approximately six to seven slides, I aim to comprehensively address their questions and concerns. Google Slides stands out for its simplicity and ease of customization, making it the optimal tool for disseminating information to large groups. It's an online slideshow maker that enables multiple users to collaborate on presentations simultaneously. Additionally, it offers various templates for quick start-ups or the flexibility to begin from scratch. One of the most significant advantages of Google Slides is its cost-effectiveness, as it's free compared to other presentation tools. During the creation process, users can insert images, format text styles, and customize the overall theme color to suit their preferences. Multiple layout options ensure slides have a distinct appearance, enhancing the presentation's visual appeal. Collaboration is facilitated through features like sharing access with other users, allowing for feedback and assistance as needed. Furthermore, presentations can be downloaded in PDF, PowerPoint, or JPEG, facilitating sharing or printing.
3 While Google Slides offers robust functionality, there are a few limitations. Unique features like slide animations may not be as extensive as those in other presentation tools. Additionally, some options for editing themes or background colors may be limited at times. Despite these challenges, Google Slides remains my preferred choice for creating informative and engaging presentations, mainly for introducing newcomers to the UAGC community. Practicing Digital Literacy Providing the trustworthiness of the materials I utilize for this scenario involves several key steps. Firstly, I'll verify that all images and videos are freely available for use and not subject to copyright restrictions. Any copyrighted content will be appropriately referenced on the presentation's reference slide. Additionally, I'll employ a citation tool to ensure accurate referencing of all materials. Also, I am committed to conducting genuine research, ensuring that at least 95% of the content originates from my knowledge and experiences at UGAC. I chose Folio as the social media platform for this scenario. Folio provides a platform for interaction among new students at UAGC, facilitating engagement with classmates and sharing work both within and outside the university community. Given its widespread usage at UAGC, Folio is an ideal medium to connect with my audience effectively. Regardless of the chosen social media platform, it's essential to uphold safety measures such as regularly changing passwords, maintaining privacy settings, and consistently upholding a positive reputation among our audience.
