I decided to visit the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center (Image 1). The URL for this museum is http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/museum/. My experience visiting this museum was very different from the other museums that I have visited more recently. It provided a great deal of interesting insight and topics for discussion for me to consider. My overall experience consists of the museum’s setting, any personal interactions that occurred, my analysis of my favorite work of art that I encountered, and
visiting The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida. The museum was founded in 1958 by Ninah Cummer, who had a very nice art collection in her home. The Cummer Museum is built on the site of Arthur and Ninah Cummer’s home and is considered the largest fine arts museum in northeast Florida. The museum has a permanent collection of more than 5,000 objects from various points in history, and the historic gardens have many statues and monuments. Artifacts in the museum include porcelain
For our PEX Project, we visit the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. This museum is the oldest art museum in Philadelphia and is full of beautiful sculptures, paintings, and everything in between. It was very interesting to take the time to observe the employees’ approach to relay the stories, history, and meanings of the artwork to us in both an interesting and impactful way. The overall environment of the museum was very calm, quiet, and welcoming. At times it became a bit awkward to talk too
The Colorado History Museum was a phenomenal place to visit; it felt life like from being in my Colorado History class in college as well as in my high school ones. I had the ability to see what it was like living in Keota, as well as being a huge size person walking around the Denver area, and lastly saw a few pieces of clothing that were the Native Americans during Bent’s Fort. Every detail in the museum I tried paying attention too, because I did not want to miss anything. The first display I

For example, in my community of New York there is a museum called the Hispanic Society of America. This museum shows Hispanic culture through artwork. The mission of the Hispanic Society of America is to represent the life of every Hispanic person, no matter the difference, to share the Hispanic culture with anyone who visits, and to provide free educational programs to the community. Without a doubt, The Hispanic Society of America is a museum where the artwork does not show Hispanic people fighting
known worldwide for its art museums. There are dozens of museums in The City of Lights, each with its own special treasures and unique pieces of art. The Louvre is the most famous of them all. The story of its creation coupled with its architecture, art work, and beautiful outdoor grounds – including the recently added Great Pyramid the sits in front of the grand museum - sets the Louvre apart from other museums across the world. The Louvre was not always a museum. With its construction beginning
The very first time I ever went to an art museum, I was miserable. I was ten years old, and visiting New York City for the first time, and my father who has worked tirelessly to raise my siblings and me to have an appreciation for higher culture dragged us to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I cried within fifteen minutes of being there. All the people made me feel claustrophobic, and I was so set in my misery that I refused to try to enjoy the art. My mother, with all the patience that mothers
I decided to do the volunteer work at the San Carlos warehouse of the Museum of American Heritage (MOAH). I went there for 3 days to complete the project. On the first day, Jim gave a brief introduction about the warehouse and the types of work they do there. I was surprised when Jim explained that the warehouse is mostly run by volunteers. Then, he introduced me about the main process they did at the warehouse. One of the main tasks is to determine what to do with the artifacts received through
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. For about a year, I worked with artists and authors to organize book signing events. Now, life has taken me to Texas, and I am currently working at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the most visited museum in Houston. I have decided that a graduate degree in Museum Studies will help advance me in a career field in which I am very passionate. For my graduate research, I would like to delve deeper into museum theory, work to fully understand
