Einthoven triangle is an imaginary equilateral triangle with an imaginary formation of three limb leads used in electrocardiography, formed by the two shoulders and the pubis. This inverted equilateral triangle has heart at its center. Each side of the triangle represent the bipolar limb lead. Bipolar lead means a lead composed of two electrodes of opposite polarity. 

During depolarization and repolarization electric field is created by the heart. Each lead measures this electric field. This electric field changes continuously and cab be measured by the voltage difference between electrodes.
