Expert Solution
Step 1

Olfactory bulb is a structure that is present in the forebrain of vertebrate species and is related to the sense of smell. The olfactory bulb contains the axons of the olfactory receptors cells and is responsible for processing of odors. Signals about odors sensed by the cells in the nasal cavity are received first by the olfactory bulb of the brain.

The brain of women contain more neurons in the olfactory bulb as a result of which they possess higher olfactory sensitivity. High number of neurons in the olfactory region of the brain makes the women more sensitive to odors.
