A complex disease that encompasses metabolic, psychological and reproductive complications is called polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Most of the pathophysiology and symptomatology of the disorder underlies insulin resistance and leads to long-term complications, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
