The following information applies to all three questions. On the mainland is a population of
more than 10,000 individuals of a land-dwelling species. On a distant offshore island is a
population of 100-200 individuals. The island population is descended from a few individuals
that by chance arrived from the mainland 100 years (at least 50 generations) ago on a floating
log. There has been little or no gene flow between the island and the mainland since the
founders arrived. You can specify for your discussion what kind of plant, animal, or other
organism this is.
