Lajos Hevesi (1843–1910)

Hevesi, Lajos (hev’esh-i). A German-Hungarian story-writer and humorist; born in Heves, Hungary, Dec. 20, 1843; died in 1910. In 1866 he founded the popular comic sheet Borsszem Jankó, read by all classes in the Magyar country. His humor found its happiest expression in ‘Rainbows’; ‘On the Sunny Side’; and above all ‘Andreas Jelky,’ a sketch of a journeyman tailor and his amusing adventures.
