Wickede, Julius von (vik’e-dė). A German military writer and littérateur; born in Mecklenburg, July 11, 1819; died on March 22, 1896. He wrote: ‘A History of the War between Germany and France in the Years 1870 and 1871’ (1873); ‘A History of the Wars of France against Germany in the Last Two Centuries’ (1874); ‘A Prussian Officer’ (1873); ‘A German Trooper’s Life’; etc.
