J. B. H. (James Barron Hope) (1829–1887)

Hope, James Barron. An American lawyer, journalist, and poet; born at Norfolk, VA, 1829; died in 1887. He served in the Confederate army in the Civil War. Among his poems are: ‘Leoni di Monti’ (1857); ‘Under the Empire, or the Story of Madelon’ (1878); and ‘Arms and the Man’ (1882).
