Zombies have been a pop culture icon for years. Whether it be video games like Call of Duty or making people feel nervous for a potential zombie apocalypse, the zombie has become one of the most recognizable pop culture figures. The rise of zombies as a frightening creature can be related a real-world issue. In this essay I will dispute that zombies have changed over time and that there is a distinct connection between the way zombies are portrayed and the way the world looks at the lower economic class. The all-around stereotypical image the lower class provides is not good. However, much like zombies there is more to the story. Everyone comes from a different background and just assuming because someone belongs in a certain “class” makes them a bad person is morally wrong. Zombies were once looked at as creatures that strictly harm society and while many still believe that zombies have evolved to being a well-known pop culture icon. Zombies are now the face of video games, movies, and many other versions of pop culture. This all happened because society took a chance and learned that there is more to the story of zombies than them just killing people. If society revaluates the way the lower class is treated there will be an exposure of a lot of misinformation. Citizens will then be able to see the bright side of the lower economic class and how hard working some of those people are. The lower economic class deserves to be revaluated much like zombies were and it’s time for society to provide that chance.
Continuing on, zombies have had a huge pop culture impact on the world. The peak popularity time of zombies every year is undoubtedly the month of October as Halloween approaches. During the Halloween season many zombie movies, books, video games, etc. are released and a lot of them have a major “hype” factor around them.
