As I stood in the huge crowd of people at The Cobo Center, gazing at my very own painting on display for all to see, I came to the genuine realization that art is what I wanted for my life. To truly live up to my aspirations, I will have to acquire some sort of higher education and the financial resources to achieve that. I would be a deserving recipient of a scholarship such as this one due to my artistic abilities and achievements, the responsibility I have already demonstrated, and my activeness in the Young Musicians Community and what that organization entails. The fine arts have always been a strong suit of mine. If there is any specific thing that I might excel at more than other fields, it’s art. This past year I entered the North American International Auto Show poster contest for 2017. There …show more content…
I am a singer in the advanced band. Being involved in this program has provided me with much greater confidence than ever before, as well as improving my performance skills. On a separate note, I have created lasting friendships with people who I never envisioned myself being friends with. I have also become a mentor to the beginning members and that is a truly incredible opportunity for learning. The only rules for being a member are to stay off drugs and alcohol, do well in school, and be kind and dedicated. Everything I have learned from this program only makes me a stronger candidate for this scholarship. Through art, I discovered my future. It would be the honor of a lifetime to accept a scholarship that allows me to pursue my dreams. With my artistic achievements, financial responsibility, and involvement in the Young Musicians Community, my involvement reaches beyond my own walls and school activities, just like the Knights of Columbus which is what makes me a worthy
It was my freshman year of high school when I took Drawing A; I quickly learned that I had a skill that I had previously ignored and began embracing it. Sophomore year, though, was when I truly started using my art. It was during this year that I received a 4 on my AP-Studio Art portfolio, and won four awards at Scholastic Art and Writing in photography. Art gave me a feeling of accomplishment that I didn’t usually get in the rest of my academics, so I always tried my
“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” –Henry David Thoreau. This quote demonstrates everything I wish to achieve while attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Through this school and the amazing music program, I plan to become an even better leader, teacher, student, and trombone player. Having my work ethic, planning, and determination I have made it this far and I do not plan to slow down any time soon. Due to my accomplishments in my past and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead of me and that I strive for, I would feel honored to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship. With this scholarship, a financial weight would be lifted off me and my family’s shoulders, and with the scholarship, I would
I feel I deserve a scholarship to the UWGB band camp because I am always trying to improve my music. To improve my music, I like playing out of music books outside of school so i can play many different types of music. I also like challenging myself to try new music and do things that i thought that i could never do. A big challenge for me was learning the World's Largest pep band music. It was a lot of fun practicing and playing high school level music. I loved playing in the pep band. Going off of that, i plan to stick with band for a long time. My sister does lots of band activities and they look so much fun. Seeing how much fun it is makes me want to take all of the musical opportunities that i can get. Also, i work hard for my lesson grades.I
Since I was a little girl art has been a part of my life, whether it has been painting my favorite celebrity, knitting a blanket, or drawing Time Square. I’ve always found joy when creating something others will admire. With my love of art came a decision every teenager has to make,“ what will you do for the rest of your life”. With lots of questioning and deliberation, I made the conclusion to further my passion into a career by going to art school in Chicago.
The monetary contribution from The Mabel de Koevend Memorial Art Scholarship or The Dr. Linda Schele Memorial Art Scholarship would improve my artistic career next year not only financially but also through the opportunity to buy better supplies. I am currently working two jobs to support myself financially. The contribution from at least one of these scholarships would loosen the pressure I have experienced throughout this year, and I feel full-heartily that I could go back to working a singular job versus the two I work now. The contribution from either The Mabel de Koevend scholarship or The Dr. Linda Schele Memorial Art Scholarship would allow me to get better supplies and/or the needed supplies to succeed in my art career not only next
Student debt is what the School of Visual Arts students’ nightmares are made of. Like many students at SVA, I have had to take out loans on top of the loans the Financial Aid department has offered me and my parents are limited to how much financially they can help me. I hope to be considered for the Photography and Video Department Awards with a review of my work, as well as, the following academic achievements and contributions I have made in my three years at SVA:
College is a growth period for students. It provides students with special opportunities and resources to allow them to reach their personal and academic goals. My goals are to help others and to expand my knowledge. During college, I plan to take advantage of any outreach opportunities that come my way. Boston College’s Music Outreach Program is an example of what I do to help the community. Through the Music Outreach Program, I will be able to give students from impecunious schools a gift-music. This specific program touches me personally because I learned how to play the violin through music lessons provided by my local school. In addition, Boston College’s Prison Arts Outreach Program has caught my attention. The Prison Arts Program will
Based on the research presented, it is apparent in both individual practice sessions and large group settings that student musicians and directors are at great risk of NIHL. Furthermore, daily exposure limit is often reached well before the conclusion of the practice session or ensemble rehearsal. The evidence is sufficient to prompt music educators to be aware of and concerned about the role of NIHL in the classroom. Chesky (2008) argues that “the music education community needs to realize that children in the United States are not learning about NIHL as part of the public school curriculum” (p. 37). Essentially, there appears to be no public school discipline under which this education naturally falls. Music teachers are not expected to tackle public health issues like bicycle helmet or seat belt use, smoking, or recreational drug use, or teen pregnancy. Therefore, it seems to be the responsibility of music
As of recently, the music scene has become a less than ideal community to be a part of. The community that I have grown to know and love is everyone respecting everyone. It was a place where people could find new music, talk about music, write music, share music, etc. Now, though, after observing some things from afar without getting engaged, I have been noticing a lot of things that are absolutely not what music is or should be about.
In the Christian Brothers Arts program, I am a part of the 4 year art program, I’ve participated in both the Christmas card and Easter card contests, I’ve taken part in the bowlathon, and I’m planning on submitting my art into the De La Salle Exhibit.
The first ever winner of the Mind Trust’s fellowship is Michael Bitz who developed the program Youth Music Exchange program. This is not the first time this 36-year-old professor of Columbia University created an interesting way to evoke people’s interests on studying. Youth Music Exchange program perfectly fits all requirement of The Mind Trust which includes inexpensive, creative and can easily be replicated. This program let children to learn how to record CDs, how to art the cover of CDs, and how to sold these CDs. Even though that these students do are different form they regulate schools, but it is the best tool to learn math, reading and economics by going through these actions by themselves. Currently, my educational goals are to earn my majors in Commercial Photography and Secondary Education. I feel that this scholarship will help me to achieve my academic desires by giving me the ability to purchase the equipment and tools I need, but cannot afford. However, though the purpose of this money is to help me get through my schooling, it will help me to reach my aspirations for happiness. To me, photography means more than self-obsession. It is a representation of a moment in time that captures the essence of what the day and age is about. From opinions to documentation, all pictures hold the secrets to the world before our own and to the world beyond. And because I hold these unlimited passions towards photography, I have the yearning
In my senior year of high school, I decided to become a CareCat for my band teacher. This meant I would drive to the middle school so I could play with the current sixth grade band. I love going and seeing them. Teaching them to play, read rhythms, learn notes, and music theory has been an amazing experience. When I went to watch their winter concert, it sparked a change in me. I realized that I wanted to major in music
Art. To me is something undefinable, what I want my art to show you is a piece of myself and a piece of yourself. Something we can all relate to; a memory, a song, a poem, art should make you feel something. Art is a gift, a tool we can use to hide beauty in ordinary places and things. I want to broaden my understanding of design and the world that art is beyond my knowledge and experiences. Because my love for creating burns so bright and deep within me, I am determined to find a career path that will allow me to explore the world of design and art every day. A number of art forms are endless and this seems like a daunting task to find just one path that can express the enjoyment and involvement I want to have with art. Throughout my life I have been endlessly drawing, painting, sculpting and creating--often times I feel almost cursed with such talent to create because the ability seems endless. I have taken a number of art classes exploring my passions as a High School Student and created many different types of works including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings; etching, embossed, and screen printmaking; charcoal, graphite, and pastel drawings; Sculpting with ceramics and plaster as well as wheel pieces. I find that there is few mediums I have yet to experiment with. I have become accustomed to Acrylic paintings as I have recently started to create paintings and sell them to community members. I participated in a local art fair and it opened my eyes to what art
A vision I’ve always had of myself years ahead of now is a wealthy business woman that owns an art academy, and is a world-wide well known artist. I will have graduated from a bachelor in fine arts from college, as well as a master in painting and business administration. My institution will give art education to people
