Financial Analysis
Financial Statements are often used to evaluate the financial position of a company. Through the analysis investors can determine the profitability of a company and decide whether to fund money into that business. The financial statements are comprise of income statement, cash flow statement and balance sheet, each of these provides useful information of earning and expenses, of cash flows, and of assets and debts.
Since the three statements offer three different kinds of information, sometimes it is useful to look at each in the context of the others, and to look at specific items in the larger context. The Total Assets are retrieved from the sum of the figures: Investments and Other Assets, Intangible Fixed Assets, Tangible Fixed Assets, and Current Assets. The Current Assets (177594, 185133, 211276) show an increasing path over the years. From the minor elements, the increasing figures of Raw Materials and Supplies (16266, 17677, 18798) are noted. It was determined as one of the main factor that the increasing figures in Current Assets as the business might have increased their materials over the period. Furthermore, the figures of Tangible Fixed Assets (136962, 150612, 184207) increased dramatically over the years. Such increase was due to the constantly investment of company in the construction of buildings and structures. (As refers: Building and Structures (47979, 53126, 71136) and Construction in Progress (14313, 11954, 23662)) Machineries and Vehicles (28725, 36819, 38804) was also one of the factor that caused the growth of Fixed Assets. The Retained Earnings of the company, (210536, 223040, 241617) had increased over the years showing that the earning of the company had increased, the profitability of the business increases over the years. The Income Statement gives one important perspective on the health of a business – its profitability. The cash flow can vary depending on the operating activities, investing and financing activities. This statement provides one business owner with insight to the company’s liquidity which is vital to the growth of the business. Reinvesting in business is very important, looking at the statement of retained earnings will tell a business owner how much were reinvested in the company. After profitable period, every big business has to give some of its profits to stockholders, and keep the rest amount as retained earnings. Out of all statements, retaining statement is important to companies that sells stocks to the public. This statement can also provide you with assets and liabilities information. These informations can be used to assess the financial health of your business. The results of a balance sheet will help the business owners to show the risk of liquidity and credit. Looking at these information you can measure trends and relationships to show where in the areas you can improve. On the other hand, the company has been growing constantly. In deed, according to the net income estimation for 2007 (see Table 7) the company increases its profits $25 thousand dollars more than the previous year. The productive assets of property, plant, and equipment changed dramatically in 1996 they were 5,581 to 2010 an increase to 21,706. Also, according to its leverage ratios, the company’s debts are not only very high, but are also increasing. Its decreasing TIE ratio indicates that its capability to pay interests is decreasing. The company’s efficiency ratios indicate that despite the fact that its fixed assets are increasingly being utilized to generate sales during the years 1990-1991 as indicated by its increasing fixed asset turnover ratio, the decreasing total assets turnover indicate that overall the company’s total assets are not efficiently being put to use. Thus, as a whole its asset management is becoming less efficient. Last but not the least, based on its profitability ratios, the company’s ability to make profit is decreasing.
