World Systems Theory And The World System Theory

In terms of a system, the meaning is a consistent arrangement of things connected to form unity or to operate as a whole. These systems are dated back in origins to the 1950’s and 1960’s. In this theory we must understand an individual’s family and how it works for that family daily in the community, neighborhood, social aspect, and etcetera. When one part of the system changes, the whole system changes. When everything is balanced it is said to be in equilibrium or homeostasis which seemingly is a good thing (Poorman, 2003). A social system is a special order of systems… composed of persons or groups of persons who interact and influence each other’s behavior. “Within this order can be included persons families, organizations, communities, societies, and cultures” (Robbins, Chatterjee & Canda, 2011). The systems theory allows us to examine the focal system from a micro, meso, or macro perspective. Keeping all of the individual systems autonomous, while still being able to conceptualize the interrelatedness of the systems together.

This difference in emphasis can be seen in the various branches of Systems Theory and their use of the term "system". General Systems Theory, founded by Ludwig von Bertalanffy [13], was an attempt to revive a view of Unified Science through the study of the attributes and properties common to all real systems, con- ceived of as physical processes and objects. He emphasized in par- ticular that, in contrast to the then prevalent prejudice in physical science, real systems are open to, and exist in complex hierarchical relations with, their environments; and that by continual Evolution, qualitatively new properties can appear through Emergence.

*In America today, we see generations that are all about possessions rather than adventure and exploration. We live in a time were people express themselves with the things they have and not the accomplishments that got them there. According to the Worlds Systems Theory, the way society has changed is not due to parenting, but the bigger agendas that are happening around us. This approach was created through the changes that occurred throughout history. Furthermore, I will discuss how this song illustrates the concept of the World Systems Theory.

They are bi-polar and multi-polar theories. In bi-polar theory, world order is achieved when two very powerful countries counter-balance each other. This implies that other countries in the world have three main choices: to choose sides, play neutral or work with both countries gaining from both. A good example is the cold war between US and USSR. As was with war, bi-polar world order has several limitations. Top among them is that regional violence and proxy conflicts occur.

In this paper, I will discuss three different schools of thought that, while they may seem to explain the inner workings of society, by themselves they fail to satisfy completely. For each theory, I will discuss the basics and cover the main tenants of each. Then, I will discuss the ambiguities, inadequacies and irrelevance to reality based on our current understanding of modern society.

As for my own analysis, theory and theorizing goes hand in hand together that gives more interesting elements on the field of assorted studies. As well as we give credits to various gifted Theorist mentioned in introductory part that their works, contributions, analysis, superb intelligence and good studies are very useful. However, utilization of many Theories encountered conflict and in contrast manner that societies changing overtime, the world from nineteenth-century to twenty first-century is very much different, very demanding especially in cross-cultural differences and the existence of network society . Therefore, the brilliant works of multiple theorist might not applicable from one situation to another on the course of the field though it serves as background knowledge and the role of theory is always symbolic.

A theory is a group of ideas that help people make decisions. Systems theory is very much like a laptop with bits and pieces working together for a larger purpose. Systems theory is a useful perspective for studying small group communication because groups are made from smaller units that operate together.

The parts of the society are independent that they maintain their boundaries within their environment but at the same time that part are interrelated that have impacts on the others. The society itself can be said to be statics or involved an ordered process of change and self-maintenance involving controlling the boundaries and the relationships to a whole. The division of labor and positions helps to maintain balance that each parts are interrelated to create the efficiency and harmony in which the sense that the most capable individuals must be motived to fill the most important roles and positions.

In The Changing World of Work video, HR and Crewing Manager Ian Robertson notes that he can identify team work as a transferable skill he acquired in his first post-school job as a farmer and that it was just as important when he entered the oil industry later in his career. This relates to my own experience having work in both an administration role and as a stock controller. Both roles required teamwork with other departments within the business and this skill will continue to be highly useful in future career paths, whether it is accountancy or any other role that takes place within a team
