The American dream is an amazing opportunity for people. It was in the past and it is now. It gives immigrants the chance to make a life for themselves and their families. It allows them to escape poverty and the hardships that they face in their country. Coming to America gives people a chance to get a job, own their own business, or get their own home. The short story, The Right to Fail by William Zinsser, explains how it is acceptable to fail and learn from one's mistakes and to not go down the path society has made socially acceptable. Zinner has a positive outlook on the concept of failing, he explains, “Success can be dangerous- you feel you know it all. I’ve learned a  great deal from my failures.” As life goes on, everyone may not succeed the same way or even succeed at everything they attempt to do, but it is important to learn from mistakes and continue moving forward and to find the path that works for you. Trying new things and failing or succeeding can open new doors to something better.

America provides opportunity to achieve the American Dream yet so many argue that it is impossible today. The American Dream consists of having opportunity to be someone financially stable and having success in your life. It is a long road to the American Dream with many obstacles on the way. Everyone is given an opportunity to start, with education being free. It is up to the person to decide whether they will continue their education to open more opportunities for their future. When the phrase “American Dream” is uttered, it is typically associated with having money or striving to have money. The "American Dream" is an idea that has always been different throughouttime. It changes in diverse forms and in the end involves success. The "American Dream" was a phrase used by the American people and peoplewanting to become American. It was always the idea that you can become a success. This is true in a partial way, but the true "American Dream" is that with somework and determination anyone can build themselves up in the economic classsystem.

The American Dream is pivotal to America's upbringing and culture. It has existed before America has. Its is the belief that a person could achieve success in America through hard work. With today’s economy, laws and regulations, immigration customs, and overall attitude towards work, people are seldom focused on achieving the American Dream.

This is what we call “the American Dream.” In 2004, Barack Obama gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention about his experience of “the American Dream” Barack and his family grew up poor, but he said “in America you don’t have to be rich to achieve your potential.” That’s exactly what he did, he worked hard and achieved a very successful life. William K. Zinsser, a writer, wrote an essay called “the Right to Fail”, the title really says it all. Zinsser didn’t view failure as a bad thing, he viewed it as getting closer and closer to success, because without failure one will never learn how to fix those mistakes.

The American dream is the freedom to do whatever you want. It's the freedom to have the job that you want, and the freedom to express your opinions. The American dream is also happiness. It's through the American dream that we achieve this happiness.

Even though many people assume the American Dream is dead, it is a very controversial topic. The American Dream may have many different points of views, but it really does exist, after all, it takes an ambitious person to strive for success through hard work, dedication and determination.
