As children, we all have dreams. One may dream about becoming a singer to make people smile in years to come. Another may dream about being a veterinarian to care for and help all sick animals. For some people, childhood dreams dissipate and their ambitions change while growing up. For me, my dreams and ambitions have remained constant as my strengths and my interests developed. I've always wanted to work in the medical field and help the sick by curing diseases. I've always possessed an awe for the phenomenon that is the human and its capabilities such as being able to distinguish the bright yet dark blues of the ocean to the ability to hear a baby’s laughter and first words. University of Michigan will help me achieve my dreams.
I've had my goals set high since I was five years old; I aspire to become a board-certified veterinary surgeon. At the young age of five, whenever I was asked the question of what I wanted to "be" when I got older, I confidently answered "I am going to be a vet." Almost thirteen years later, I answer that question even more confidently. I am going to be a veterinarian.
Being a veterinarian has many of hoops that I must jump through, such as; having important features that will help you throughout the career, different job duties depending on what field of being a veterinary you choose, the education I will need, challenges with clients, the pets themselves and an abundance of other things. There are also a great deal of benefits of the this job, which makes it all worth it. Becoming a veterinarian is the best job for me, because I love to be around animals and I love helping them in life.
I used to tell my friends and teachers that I wanted to explore the medical field because that was what my family wanted me to do. They wanted me to become a doctor as it is a well praised profession that pays extremely well. As I grew older and entered middle school, I realized that becoming a doctor wasn’t something I was immensely interested in. Instead of a doctor, I wanted to become a veterinarian, treating animals instead of people. I’ve become aware of my passion for animals ever since I began having pets: from fish to hamsters to dogs. I decided to focus on animals when I first took one of my hamsters to a veterinarian. I thought that their profession was fun and interesting because it revolves around animals, something that I love and grown up with. Although studying veterinary sciences is difficult and competitive, becoming an animal doctor has been one of my greatest
When people look back at their lives, a lot of them would like to think that they made a difference. One of these ways is by caring for an individual who could not take care of themselves. It would bring this person a sense of happiness and great relief knowing that they have done something to change an outcome, or potentially save a life. "Being a vet tech is a rewarding and life changing expierence" (Holmes 46) . Not only is being a vet tech rewarding and life changing, but it can help the world become a better place by saving one animal at a time. For someone who loves animals and spending time with them, being a vet technicians is the most suitable career choice.
From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal’s life in more ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Veterinarians are also able to diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of not just pets but also livestock and wildlife ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). It goes beyond the annual vaccinations.
Ever since I was young, sitting in front of the TV with my cat watching Animal Planet, I have had a
My passion for medicine continues to grow with each patient that I’ve had the privilege of caring for through shadowing, volunteering and my job as a CNA. Being my grandma’s translator has inspired me to pursue a career as a physician assistant, and beyond becoming a physician assistant, I aspire to practice in underserved populations so that everyone has an equal opportunity to access the health care they need.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child, we have all been asked this question; and as unrealistic children, we all had dreams of being a superhero, princess, cowboy, or astronaut. Later on in life, as time went by, and as we became more knowledgeable, our answers became more serious. Some of us wanted to be teachers, business owners, or a veterinarian. However, I have always wanted to be a doctor, but not just any doctor. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Now, half way through my junior year in high school, I have started to question the details of this career, and all the hard work it takes to become a part of the medical field.
As a child, I dreamt of having a career in a medical field. Throughout my late elementary and middle school years, I wanted to become a Pediatrician. I remember this one memory from when I was younger. I was at a local Pediatric office getting my yearly checkup done and thought about how I wanted to be like Dr. Hletko (my family’s Pediatric Doctor). He has been my doctor since I was born. Anytime I was sick, he would be there to diagnose the problems and prescribed me my antibiotics to get better. Not only did he help me get better, but he also helped so many sick kids get healthy and I aspired to be like him one day. As I got older and started high school, I changed my career choice and wanted to become a Nurse Practitioner (APRN). APRN’s
It takes passion and determination to achieve the dream of becoming an exotic animal vet. Veterinarians can work directly with animals or with a research and development to help understand diseases and try to find cures for them. The journey to becoming a vet is quite lengthy with the schooling and experience. Not only is the route to being a veterinarian lengthy, but it is also exciting due to people achieving their dreams of working with, studying, and providing medical care of these animals. There are also multiple routes people can take once they get their D.V.M. degree. There are many steps to become and exotic animal vet along with there being benefits of interacting with the animals, but there are also high dangers of being with these exotic wild animals.
Two decades and many existential crises later, one single aspect of my life has pulled me through: that passion I experienced as a child. I have questioned the source of this motivation more than once, and have sought out to put myself in all possible situations that would predict how I would feel later in my life as a doctor to make sure this passion was not mere infatuation.
Early on in life, I wanted to dedicate my life to serve the population one way or another, to help make a difference, and medicine has been the path I’ve chosen. When I was younger, I wanted to be the one to help my family when they were sick, but I helplessly sat around being able to do nothing. Even when I was asked what I wanted to be I replied a few things; a singer and dancer like Michael Jackson, a lawyer, engineer like daddy, or a doctor. I think you may know which one I stuck with. Recently when my twin sister tore her ACL, it magnified the feeling of helplessness and affirmed my aspirations as well. As a child, my mother became sick when my pregnant with my younger brother Andrew. There’s been many deaths in my family such as the passing of my father’s dad to cancer, that they didn’t know he had until he died. My maternal
Throughout my life I have had a strong admiration and passion for the animal world, which has lead me to aspire become a veterinary surgeon. From a young age, the subjects of biology and chemistry have always caught my attention, hence why I have an immeasurable ambition to complete my a-levels to an outstanding level so I can continue my studies in veterinary to learn, in enhanced detail, about the field. Recently, I completed a week’s experience at a veterinary clinic and after seeing so many different surgeries being performed I am now more determined than ever to complete my goal.
I want to become a veterinarian after high school because, animals deserve to be happy. Most domestic animals will be abused in their life, which is sickening. If an animal is abused I want to be there to help them recover. My future job will change society because, animals make people happy and if the animals are happy so are their owners. I think animals deserve to be seen by vets regularly so that they stay as healthy as can be.
